BACKGROUND

The origins of Communicative Approach are found in the changes in the British language teaching tradition in the late 1960s.

Situational Language Teaching (SLT) was the major approach to teaching English as a FL.

Language was taught by practicing basic structures in meaningful situation-based activities.

The mother tongue can be used however, whenever possible the target language should be used.

It can’t used in large class because the teacher will be difficult in controll the student’s activities.

Communicative Approach does not focus on error correction.

Grammatical explanation might be avoided
