Namasté Solar advises clients who are evaluating the possibilities of solar PV to begin with a comprehensive Feasibility Study. This study will iden-tify optimal locations, technologies, available incentives, estimated costs, and avoidable pitfalls of the project.

Feasibility studies are conducted for both existing sites and new developments, to ensure that our clients are investing in the most appropriate technology solution and avoiding costly mistakes.

Once your project is ready to move forward, Namasté Solar can develop a Request for Proposal (RFP) and facilitate the contractor selection process. A well-crafted RFP will create more competitive bids and save money in the long run. Our practiced eyes can help you avoid hidden costs and provide a sophisticated comparison of the options. Deliverables would include issuing the RFP, collecting and evaluating proposals, and presenting a report to evaluate and compare the options.

If you would like to secure available solar incentives but are not ready to commit to a contractor, we can also fill out the appropriate applications and prepare the technical documents that utilities require.

Project Planning & Consulting ClientNew Belgium Brewing Company

Namasté Solar was selected by Ft. Collins, Colorado-based New Belgium Brewing Company to develop and analyze multiple solar PV system design configurations, including a carport, roof mounted, and fixed-and tracking-ground mount systems. Initial discussions between the client, the local utility, and Namasté Solar focused on integrating the solar PV system in with the client’s preexisting cogen-eration and the utility grid. The scope of work required Namasté Solar to provide complete system design and project planning: a detailed interconnection plan, soils analysis, structural and electrical engineering reviews, power production modeling, utility compliance, and finan-cial analysis. As a result of the thorough approach we took during the design phase, New Belgium Brewing Company ultimately selected Namasté Solar to perform the system integration and forego the initial plans to issue an RFP for the installation portion of the project.

When you’re ready to launch the solar PV project, you will want to assemble a knowledgeable team of professionals to ensure that your investment is designed to the highest quality standards. Our experienced

solar engineers will work with your existing stakeholders to develop designs that meet applicable codes, production goals, aesthetic requirements, and budgets while avoid-ing change orders from unforeseen obstacles. As part of this process, Namasté Solar provides construction-ready, engineered project documents to the construction con-tractor for the successful implementation of the project.

Our detailed designs include the following: site plan, array layout, structural engineering, engineered electrical plans, and a monitoring design. They will also include production models of the system’s estimated performance, which are then integrated into the financial model.

Engineering & Design ClientColorado Convention Center

The Colorado Convention Center project posed some of the most challenging engineering and design obstacles we have faced on a project to date. The client’s requirement initially seemed impossible: design an interactive grid-tied system that never back feeds the grid. After other develop-ers had failed to find a workable solution for this facility, Namasté Solar found a way to interconnect with a triple-redundant utility SPOT network. The result was what we now refer to as “the Brain,” an innovative, dynamically-controlled inverter, the first of its kind. Additionally, the system had originally been designed with a thin-film module, with the expectation that a lower cost technology would result in a better financial return. We found that the density of higher efficiency modules combined with a ballasted racking system ultimately lowered the labor and roofing costs, leading to a better bottom line. The chal-lenges of the CCC highlighted the perseverance, expertise, and innovation of Namasté Solar’s engineering team.

Namasté Solar has designed and installed many megawatts of com-mercial systems, often pioneering solutions to problems that proved insurmountable to others. We em-ploy top-notch designers, project managers, and NABCEP-certified

individuals on our installation crews to ensure high quality workmanship from design through implementation. Our ex-perienced team can identify and troubleshoot costly issues prior to the beginning of construction, saving thousands of dollars in change orders and delays.

During the implementation phase, we pay particular atten-tion to running safe, clean work sites. We fully adhere to all OSHA regulations and have been recognized for our Superior Safety practices on federal projects.

Project Implementation ClientDenver Public Schools

Namasté Solar, in partnership with Oak Leaf Energy Partners and MP2 Capital, won this competitive RFP to provide the design, installation, and PPA financing of 1.8 MW’s of roof mounted solar PV projects across 16 dif-ferent school sites for the Denver Public Schools system. Compared to other projects of this scale, this particular project encompassed a high level of complexity resulting from the number of distinct sites. It required 16 separate mobilizations, coordinating with multiple facilities man-agers, managing logistics for 16 separate project sites, developing 16 separate site-specific safety plans, negoti-ating historical review processes, managing concurrent installations, administering the utility rebate process for 16 projects in various states of completion – all on an extremely compressed timeline. Another unique feature of this project was Namasté Solar’s collaboration with the Denver Public Schools in developing a solar curriculum so that the students benefit not only from solar electricity, but from education about it as well.

Having an impartial third party perform Quality Assurance and Commissioning adds important accountability mecha-nisms to the project. From design to implementation, our oversight will verify the integrity of the installation to ensure the system is safe and will perform as specified over time.

Whether you’re building a new system or preparing to sell one that you have owned for a few years, Namasté Solar can provide a technical assessment to contribute to the appraisal of the system. We will evaluate historical production, warranties, and overall condition of the system and provide a report to be used in the financial valuation of the system.

Design review deliverables include structural and electrical review, compliance with utility/building department rules, applicable codes, production modeling, negative solar ease-ment analysis, and O&M program recommendations.

Commissioning deliverables can include visual inspection, inverter manufacturer installation startup requirements, system component torque guidelines, string voltage and current verification, performance verification, insulation testing, and IV curve trace results.

Namasté Solar was awarded the Colorado Department of Corrections RFP for Quality Assurance and Commissioning for four 100-kW projects on its facilities in southern Colorado. Namasté Solar reviewed the completed projects and ensured that the quality of installations will safely and reliably provide power for the life of the systems. An important part of our approach to QA/QC work stems from our experience as an integrator, making us aware of what to look for in the technical application as well being sensi-

tive to the challenges that the contractor may experience onsite. We believe that our ability to balance all stakeholder perspectives makes us uniquely suited for this work. Our deliverables included review of electrical interconnection plans, site visits to visually inspect workmanship, and final reports to the CDOC.

Once a PV system has been commis-sioned, we recommend that ongoing performance metrics be logged and monitored by a Data Acquisition System (DAS) for subsequent analy-sis. Using online tools, our Service Department will monitor the functional

health of the PV system to ensure that system parameters stay within acceptable thresholds.

Our service technicians have extensive experience with PV in both residential and commercial environments and are NABCEP certified solar PV installers. They have hands-on experience and training in all aspects of pho-tovoltaic technology, including technical design, project management, installation, system monitoring (DAS), and related technologies.

Deliverables can include: system status review, OEM war-ranty verification, OEM interface, production analysis, performance reports, annual site visits, visual inspections, preventative maintenance, panel washing, and refresher trainings for facilities staff, as needed.

After the successful competition of 11 projects on Wells Fargo branches in Colorado, Namasté Solar entered into an O&M contract to safeguard the systems’ ongoing opera-tion at peak performance. As one of the largest financiers of renewable energy projects in the United States, Wells Fargo has a keen understanding of the relationship be-tween system performance and financial ROI. Namasté Solar conducts annual inspections and prepares easy to understand reports to explain how each system is produc-ing energy compared to initial expectations. Additionally, our NABCEP-certified service team performs preventative maintenance including fuse and string testing, checking for loose wiring, warranty replacements, and inspecting equipment for physical aging issues. Similar to changing oil in a car, simple preventative maintenance ensures the long-term health of a solar system, maximizes production, and protects our client’s financial investment.
