Surgical procedures are used to recover donated organs, eyes and tissue. The body is always treated with greatcare, respect and dignity.

Who receives donated organs and tissue Organs are distributed based upon medical informationlike blood type, body size, and tissue type matchingthrough a national computer network operated by theUnited Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Think of your favorite chair, or a chair that belongs to

someone special in your life. When you see that chair, yo

u

can’t help but think of the person who usually sits in it.

Donate Life Ohio’s Green Chair Campaign hopes to bring t

o

mind the thousands of Ohioans touched by organ, eye an

d

tissue donation: transplant recipients, families of those w

ho

have died and become donors, patients waiting for a

transplant, and, particularly, the families of those who

died waiting.

Eighteen people die each day waiting for an organ. The

Hile

Family knows that reality and was so hopeful when Denny

,

father and husband, was listed for a heart transplant.

They also knew that his future was in the hands of a

stranger who would say “yes” to donation and share life

at

their death. Sadly, a heart never became available an

d

Denny died at 62.

His daughter, Debby, still has her father’s favorite recli

ner

in her home and shares Denny’s story, urging Ohioans to n

ot

let another chair go empty by registering as donors in the

Ohio Donor Registry.
