After creating my masthead for my magazine I decided to pick four main colours I’m going to use for my house colours. My magazine will always use this colour scheme so my target audience will always recognise my magazine. Throughout my I will use the neutral colours of black and white; add a splash of colour by adding red & purple; purple is a female colour and red is a fantastic masculine colour. I decided to use these colours because my magazine is for both genders. Red is a very popular colour for rock a rock magazine; it connotes aggression and love what can be portrayed throughout rock music. I thought it would be unique to use the purple and red with the black and white. I want my magazine to be formal because my target audience is late teens / adults. So it has to suit all. My magazine is mostly like NME because they have the red black and white colour scheme. However mine has a slight twist with the purple touch. In this NME font cover they have used a extra colour of yellow. I am using their colour scheme but swapping the yellow for a light purple.
