I would also like to thank Ms Joseph for being a wonderful team manager and supporting the team.

We started our Craftanoon for 2020 last Thursday. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends who helped the students begin their craft. We have a number of wonderful projects beginning and if you have some spare time on Thursday afternoons please come along.

Sickness

We have had a few bugs getting around school in recent weeks. This has ranged from Stomach bugs to sore throats and temperatures. All these illnesses are NOT related to the ‘COVID 19’ Virus. In the light of these recent events we would just like to remind everyone of good cleanliness practices that can reduce the transfer to others.

These are:

* Washing your hands thoroughly with soap. Some advice is to wash hands for at least 20 seconds. When coughing, cough into your elbow and then wash hands afterwards just to be sure. * Sneeze into your elbow then wash hands or use sanitizer. Dispose of tissues after blowing noses in the bin and wash hands or use sanitizer afterwards.

Most importantly…

*If your child is not well, please give them a chance of getting over it and not spreading it to others by allowing them to stay at home to rest. One or two days is better than one or two weeks.

In relation to the ‘COVID 19’ Virus there are set directives from the NSW Department of Health and the Department of Education that will be applied should any of the following events were to happen at Colo Heights Public School. Most of these (like staying home for 14 days) are implemented if a person has had direct contact from someone with the Virus or has recently returned from China, Iran, South Korea and probably other countries will be added to the list as the year progresses. Please understand that we will continually monitor all events and keep you informed.

NSW School Updates app

Over recent months with the bushfires and floods it was a challenge to communicate with everyone. And even though we were able to inform you all regarding the school being non-operational it was still a challenge when phone lines are out. The NSW Department of Education have recently released an App that allows families to receive operational status updates for all NSW public schools. This app will complement the other means of communication to parents and carers from our school and the Department of Education to ensure families now receive timely, accurate information in a crisis. The app is free and available for Apple (from the App Store) and Android (from Google Play) users. Find out more and download the app now: https://bit.ly/2PD2jd3 You can opt in for notifications about the operational status of as many NSW public schools as you choose (both Colo Heights P.S and Hawkesbury High).

Privacy Information- The app doesn't store any personal or identifiable information. When using the app, it communi-cates with the department's servers storing a unique identifier for your device; the schools that you wish to receive updates for; and if you've opted into receive push notifications information to send notifications to that device.
