This very popular course focuses on preparing students for a comfortable and successful transition from elementary to secondary school. Students will have fun finding their way around the school building and following a grade 8 timetable. Questions about high school will be discussed and answered. Students will be taught skills and strategies, such as organization (notebooks, locker, homework), methods of study (study guides, reading, note-taking), and test writing (preparation, prediction, stress reduction). Students are requested to bring a duotang or binder, pen, and pencil on the first day of class.

Richardson Band ~ A Message from Mr. Medzon ~

Grade 6/7 Band classes traveled to

the Kiwanis Music Festival in Langley on May 15th, where they played their first of three performances. The band played very nicely, and were awarded a silver certificate! We hosted our first Band Day here at Richardson on June 4th with guest band classes from Heath Traditional and Pinewood. We listened to each other play, and had the opportunity to compare ourselves to similar bands. Tuesday, June 18th was our End of Year Music Concert. The 6/7 band again played impressively, and our choir sang two delightful songs, Sakura in Japanese, and a Liberian folk song, Kokoleoko. Jaye, Jaishan, Priyansh and Alwin led the school with O Canada (way to go guys!), and Pirahnavi graced us with a solo performance of March Militaire. All in all, a sweet program!

hand • Fence backyard pools and add self-locking latches on

gates. Skin Protection

stories, record reading, collect stickers, win prizes and get a medal.

• Kids (K to grade 6) Collect a reading record, enter prize draws, come to fun shows and earn a medal. Just read every day!

• Teens (grades 7 to 12) Read. Record. Repeat. It begins when you pick up an SRC reading record. Includes chances to win fantastic prizes.

• Adults Take home a reading record and mark your reading to enter prize draws. The more you read, the more chances to win.

Richardson School Jerseys Please have a look to see whether there

are any Richardson Jerseys “hiding” at your home. If you could return any found jerseys this week, it would be greatly appreciated!

Lost and Found Reminder

Please don’t forget to stop by the Lost and Found display near the office to claim your child’s missing items of clothing. There is still a fairly large collection of coats, hoodies, pants, etc., hanging on the clothing lines, placed in the box or laid out in the hallway. Smaller items, including jewelry and keys, are kept at the office. Please speak with Mrs. Ahlgren or Ms. Schroeder if you are missing anything. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity after Thursday, June 27th.
