What is GPSTest Software?• An excllent tool for testing and evaluating
GPS Receivers/Modules based on the NEMA 0183 standard.
• It helps you understand the quality, stability and accuracy of GPS receivers or modules.
• It helps you compare the quality and performances of different GPS receivers (models).
What is the Benefits of GPSTest?
• If you are a vendor, it helps you test and evaluate the quality of your GPS products. It helps you improve product performance.
• If you are a user, it helps you find out the best GPS receiver that fits your project requirements. It helps you make right decision.
What can I do with GPSTest?• Log and monitor the NEMA data from multiple GPS
receivers at the same time.• Test cold start time.• Conduct accuracy analysis with different probability
confidence intervals.• Conduct outliers or jump points analysis with different
error distances.• Plot the positional errors and error distributions.• Export data to Excel for your further analysis.• Show up roads test results on MapPoint.• Generate test report in Microsoft Word.
What do I need to use GPSTest?
• A PC running Microsoft Windows 98/Me/2000/XP
• Multiple serial or USB COM ports• Microsoft Mappoint 2002 and Office
2000 or later version• 128 MB RAM and 2.0 GB hard disk
space

Log NMEA Data for Evaluation• GPSTest uses the captured NMEA data to evaluate the
performance of GPS receivers. Before you can evaluate a GPS receiver, you must log the NMEA data from the GPS receiver for at least two hours at a static point. If you want to compare performances among different GPS receivers, you may need log all NMEA data from different receivers at the same time. You can use any utility program to log NMEA data. However, GPSTestallows you to log GPS data from 4 receivers at the same time.

Monitor NMEA Data Acquisition
• After you started to log NMEA data, you can monitor NMEA messages, navigation info, signal quality and satellites in view for one or all GPS receiver(s).

Analyze and Evaluate NMEA Data• With the logged NMEA data, you can:
• calculate the cold start time and the times to acquire one, two, three and five satellite fixes.
• conduct positioning accuracy analysis with or without excluding some big errors (Outliers).
• conduct outliers or jump points analysis to see what reason and what time the big jumps occurred.
• conduct analysis of the fix – no fix - fix status changes to see the stability of the receiver.
• plot the error distributions to see the overall performance of the receiver.

Positioning Accuracy Analysis• By giving an error
rejection probability or distance, you can get different accuracy estimation of the GPS receiver.
• You can also choose one of three estimation options for the coordinates (position) and the accuracy too.

Outlier Analysis
• Based on the given error rejection probability or distance, GPSTest will list all the rejected errors for your further analysis.
• You can easily dump history data before and after the outlier (jump) point to Excel for further analysis by giving a time period specification. This may help you find a possible reason for the jump.

Fix - No Fix - Fix Status Analysis
• GPSTest will check and list all time points at which the fix status changed, i.e. from Fix to No Fix or reversed.
• You can easily dump history data before and after the fix status change point to Excel for further analysis by giving a time period specification. This may help you find a possible reason for the status change.

Report Evaluation Results
• GPSTest uses Microsoft Office software for final reports and presentation of all test results.
• You can easily add comments and integrate different kinds of results into a final test report according to your requirements.
• You can also export NMEA data to Excel and display road test data on MapPoint for an easy view and analysis.
