Monday, April 23 Acorn Singers 3:15-4:30 RAFFLE TICKETS ON SALE

This week’s slide show is a tribute to Cobb’s little men. Dr. Montessori wrote, “It is necessary, then, to give the child the possibility of de-veloping according to the laws of his nature, so that he can become strong, and, having become strong, can do even more than we dared hope for him.” At The Cobb School the commitment to chil-dren developing according to their nature is embraced, and this video attempts to capture that truth.

The Cobb School Thanks...

...everyone who joined us for the Parent Coffee on Tues-day. Here are some thoughts from one of the attendees. Thank you, Kristen Cork, for sharing your response. I was excited to attend the parent coffee yesterday morn-ing, thinking it would expand upon the forms of creativity we are most familiar with in a tangible fashion. What I found, however, was the topic really leant itself to the basis or stem of creativity itself, noticing the natural awe that follows from watching a leaf uncurl, a flower blossom, an ant following the long line of other ants back into their homes, the wonder that comes from noticing different shapes that repeat themselves in nature over and over. The questions and thoughts that spark from slowing down and “following the child outdoors.” That fact is more interest-ing than fiction and that is how the child from birth to 6 is exploring his or her world. Once again, I saw the beauty of Maria Montessori's principles that follow the daily life of living things, integrating what is natural, common sense, encouraging the child to question, ponder, integrate and then fly with their own expressions of creativity.

Donations can still be left with Miss Margaret or Windy. Tickets for a chance to win will be sold for $10 each at school April 23-27 and the night of the auction, April 27 . If you have any questions, please contact Julie Berard at 860-677-7408 or [email protected].

On Wednesday, April 25 at 9am, we will host our last open house of the year. We hope you will encourage friends, neighbors and colleagues to consider whether or not Montessori is a match for their family and will speak freely and gener-ously about your own family’s experience at The Cobb School, Montessori.
