Key Social Media Setup Tips

• Uniform Branding • Make sure your logos, pics, etc are all up to date and you choose

profile colors that match your brand

• Password Management • You will be juggling multiple passwords, if you write them down keep

them secure • If you let staff use the passwords make sure you change your

passwords as often as your staff does

• Avoid Username confusion • Try to use the same username across all platforms if possible

How to Understand your Analytics

You should be monitoring your Social Media Analytics at least monthly so you can make adjustments and discover trends. There are many free tools available: Twitter

• tweetreach.com will help you measure how many people saw your tweet or hashtag

• followerwonk.com will help you understand who follows you, compare yourself to people like you can other key data points

Facebook

• Facebook has a built in system called Page Insights, you will see how many people see your posts, track your likes, reach and engagement

Linkedin • Your Company page has similar analytics to Facebook, but also added

features about the demographics of who is following you • http://inmaps.linkedinlabs.com/ - This map will let you visualize your

network clusters.

Social Media Etiquette

• Customer Service • Everyone is watching – so if someone has a negative experience

with your Org or Staff – responds quickly to resolve it • Often Twitter get better results than a customer service call

• Know which account you are posting to • Often you or your staff may be logged into the Org’s and their

personal twitter/facebook on their computer or phone and they don’t check which account they are in before they post.

• If you are going to make a joke – it should be ‘110% safe for work’ • If it could offend anyone in the slightest, don’t do it, there are

How to generate funds with social media

• Multiple posts to your traditional campaigns

• Have flash sales of branded products

• Leverage the size of your followers when selling event sponsorships

• Make a unit of Money equal a unit of Good
