Hygiene - External hygiene

• The rounded form of the glass bowl makes it easy to clean it. It can also be removed for a cleaning in a washing machine. The glass as a material remains intact after use of many years

• The suction holder covers are smooth and have no dirt traps. The suction activation is by auto-adaptive inductive sensors, which eliminate the need for difficult-to-clean micro switches

• The suction tubings are easily removed from the cuspidor and the HVE as well as the saliva nozzle can be disassembled for cleaning and autoclaving


• The instrument holders are easily detached for disinfection

• The console cover is an integral moulded plastic piece which means that there is no possibility that any cleaning agents sprayed on it can enter the instrument console and cause damage

Hygiene - Internal hygiene

Short waterline flushing (30 s / selected hose):

It is recommendable to flush the instruments every time by water before sterilising them. The standard non-return valves and Contamination Prevention Valve for turbine prevent impurities from getting into the instrument hose, but flushing helps additionally to avoid the hardening of impurities into the narrow lines of the handpiece during autoclaving.


Intensive waterline flushing (total 120 s + glass filler operation) should be done in the beginning of each clinic day in order to replace the stagnant water that has been standing overnight in the waterlines with fresh water. This reduces any overnight or weekend microbial accumulation into the waterlines.


Anti-contamination barrier for turbinePlanmeca Compact has a patented anti-contamination system, which prevents any back-suction to occur. The newest turbine models have also an in-built protection against the back-suction phenomenon.

The anti-contamination system for turbine causes that it takes 2-3 seconds for the turbine to stop after the foot control has been returned to its rest position. The anti-contamination system functions automatically for all turbine tubings attached to the instrument console.
