Students in this class will learn the technique of applying

glaze to bisque using a variety of decorative methods.

Each student will create two mugs; one to keep and one

to donate to the Cup of Kindness project, a collaboration

between the Rhein Center, Lakeside United Methodist

Church, and Lakeside Chautauqua to help end hunger in

the local community. Proceeds from the sale of the cups

will benefit the Danbury Food Pantry. Donated cups

may be purchased for $8.00 at Artists-N-Cahoots or

during the Tuesday Farmers' Market.

Ages: 14 and up

At minimum, a basic point-and-shoot digital camera is

required. Tablet cameras and telephone cameras will

not be discussed in this class.Great photos require vision

and execution; this class discusses and demonstrates

both. Vision: discussion of 360 degree vision utilizing

principles of composition, lighting, focal point, subject

placement and background choice. Execution: once the

artist perceives his/her vision, photographic tools can

then be used to capture and present that vision to the

viewer. Camera tools such as f/stop, shutter speed,

depth of focus, white balance, flash, digital presets and

computer photo manipulation can all play a part in

delivering impactful pictures. You will enjoy this

hands-on class as we discuss technique, apply the

concepts, and share our work.

glaze to bisque using a variety of decorative methods.

Each student will create two mugs; one to keep and one

to donate to the Cup of Kindness project, a collaboration

between the Rhein Center, Lakeside United Methodist

Church, and Lakeside Chautauqua to help end hunger in

the local community. Proceeds from the sale of the cups

will benefit the Danbury Food Pantry. Donated cups

may be purchased for $8.00 at Artists-N-Cahoots or

during the Tuesday Farmers' Market.

Sand Sculpting at the Beach: Ages 10+ Type: Standard Class

Students will receive instructions and a brief

demonstration on the primary elements of sand

sculpting. For the remainder of the morning, the six

Sandmen artists will work with and coach students in

groups of three/four in creating assigned sand sculptures.

In the afternoon, after returning from a one-hour lunch

break, all of the students will utilize their newfound

skills to work alongside all of the Sandmen on a massive

sand sculpture that will tie in with and incorporate the

smaller sand sculptures that the smaller groups will have

created in the morning. Near the end of the day, the

entire class will pose together for official photos with

their unique work of sand art. Students will also be give

the opportunity to pose individually for any photos their

families would like to take. The sand sculpture will be

left intact on the beach for all of Lakeside to enjoy.

Mixed Generation Classes / Theater Fun with Improvisation: Group 1: Ages 13+ Type: Standard Class



1 Week Session


Ages: 13 and up

Theatrical expression is fundamental to the development

of individuality and creativity. Improvisational theatre

provides an enjoyable atmosphere where individuals can

push the limits of reality and imagine circumstances that

stimulate originality and creativity. "Fun with

Improvisation" allows youths to explore the art of

theatrical improvisation. The course will introduce

several games and exercises that draw from creativity

and encourage quick thinking and collaborative efforts

toward developing cohesive storylines and plots. each

class session will include several different games - some

with a higher focus on comedy, others on developing an

ability to create realistic and believable scenarios.

Improvisation concepts will be briefly discussed and

then applied to show group members how to respond

quickly to on-the-spot circumstances created by their

peers.

will provide you with all the materials you need to touch

up, spruce up, and re-seal your painted rocks. Please
