CKLA Unit 10 “Colonial America” Strand Listening & Learning Grade 3 Activity Adapted End of Unit Assessment
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
This adapted assessment was designed to be used in conjunction with Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) grade 3, unit 10. For more information about CKLA, click here.
It was designed to provide short answer and extended writing opportunities. In addition, the assessment offers the opportunity for students to answer questions about a passage of text.
The assessment is divided into five sections, and includes a “bonus” at the end.
• Section 1: focuses on domain-specific, tier 3 vocabulary.• Section 2: focuses on tier 2 vocabulary.• Section 3: contains short answer questions around general information from the domain.• Section 4: is a close-reading and writing activity in which students use the text excerpt to
complete the following statement: The English faced many challenges when they establishedthe colonies in the New World because/but/so ____________.
• Section 5: is a compare and contrast of two different colonial regions.• Bonus: requires students identify important places on a map of the colonies.
