To start, go to www.ck-12.org

The website enables you to build/edit your own text books by following a short simple process.

You can customize your book using standard aligned concepts.

STep 1: Join!Join CK-12!!

Joining is quick and easy, insert your name, position, and email and password!

Step 2: Blank Canvas

On the left side of the screen, click on “My content”

From that screen click “Create New”

Then…”FlexBook”

Now you will see the blank canvas of a textbook ready to be filled

Step 3: Title Your Book

From this page you can:

Title your FlexBook

Add a photo for a cover page

Add general information regarding material in your FlexBook.

Step 4: Add Content

On the left hand side, there is a drop down menu titled, “ Add Content”

From there you will have many options:

Start from scratch

Search CK-12

Add Word File

Add Google DOC

Searching CK-12

By using the search CK-12 option, you can type any keyword to search the Concept bank

An example would be typing “Factoring” in the search bar

You will then be provided with a bank of concepts, all dealing with factoring.

Once you find the one you like, select it, and click “Add to FlexBook”

Just like that, you have a section of a chapter!

Step 5: Organize Your Concepts

Once you have searched CK-12 and have your own concept bank, you can click and drag concepts around and place them into chapters, or sections of chapters.

Save and Publish

Once you have your FlexBook built the way you want it, click the save button on the left side of the screen.

Now that your FlexBook has been saved, you can post it on the CK-12 website by clicking “Publish”.

Students can then access your FlexBook by visiting CK-12.org.

They will need to sign-up as a student.

They can then search the title of your FlexBook and save it as a PDF to their device. (Laptop or iPad).

By clicking Epub, the download will automatically save into Ibooks on an iPad and can be viewed without Internet access.

Edit Anytime!Anytime you wish to edit your FlexBook, simply log into your CK-12 portal, select the book you

wish to edit, and either add, delete, or edit content you have already created!

DONT FORGET!!!Anytime you edit your FlexBook, save and

publish it so the world can view your new ideas!
