Proclamation Fond du Lac Yacht Club

100th Anniversary

Whereas, the Fond du Lac Yacht Club has provided fellowship for over 100 years among

boaters from all walks of life who love to power boat, sail, canoe, kayak, ice boat, wind

surf, fish, or jet ski; and

Whereas, the Fond du Lac Yacht Club was formed to unite boaters in the Fond du Lac and

surrounding areas for the common good; promote participation and enjoyment of cruising,

yacht racing, and casual recreation on Lake Winnebago, foster public boating safety

education, conduct a youth seamanship program, and represent all boaters in community

affairs; and

Whereas, in signing the articles of incorporation on August 25, 1920, its founders laid the

framework for an enduring partnership with the boating community and the city at large

to develop Lighthouse Harbor into a beautiful harbor of refuge that all now enjoy, whether

coming by land or sea; and

Whereas, the Fond du Lac Yacht Club and its auxiliary clubs: U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary,

Sailing Club, Boating Club, Ice Yachters, Nauti-Gals, and Old Salts, have enriched the

community with their focus on promoting boat safety, organizing world-class regattas,

preserving natural water resources, developing the boat dock, launch, and harbor facilities,

providing water rescue support, and performing community service; and

Whereas, the Fond du Lac Yacht Club supports many community service organizations

through food and supply drives, boat rides, and fundraising that directly benefits Fond du

Lac residents.

Now, Therefore, I, Kay Miller, President of the Fond du Lac City Council, do hereby

congratulate the Fond du Lac Yacht Club on its 100th Anniversary and extend the City’s best

wishes for continued success in supporting and educating the boating community.

Kay Miller, President
