Lab Reservations

• Calendar available through the I Drive (Just as last year)

• Please include the number of students you will be bringing to the labs and please e-mail to see if laptops are available for use.– Ex. Schulze – 32

• 29 desktops available in labs. Additional hardware will be laptops must secure with either me or library.

• All General labs will have laptop locked in teacher station this year.

LCD Projectors

• Turn from high resolution or brightness to LOW brightness.

• Will model

• If light turns red on projector, please unplug and then try to reset.

• If unplugging does not work, please input a tech. work order ASAP.

CMS = Curriculum Management System

• New to NISD, check email for CMS password

• Everyone needs know CMS password

• Suppose to get new passwords August 17th?

• CMS page update – New Pages for transfer/displaced and new teachers.

Web Authentication• Staff now have the access to more on the

Web.

• Accessing Staff Internet Rights

• Student rights are more strict.

• Sites that are not blocked at school, may be blocked if you try to access at home? Why? There are levels of access, and there are no plans to change? Ex. Access on campus Youtube, but not at home. Sorry

Personal Laptops

• Currently NISD, students and guest

• AUP for use must be followed

• Go to www.nisd.net/technology/training

– Click “Connecting to the NISD WiFi Network”

– New level of security to log on to NISD Wifi

• NETWORK KEY is northside (lower case). Must type in

twice. This is for accidental wifi source for people.

Student Storage

• Beginning this year, students will have to

login like employees in order to use the

computers. NO AUP, NO access to using

technology.

• Students can login to multiple computers

(like teachers) watch out!!

• Students must have AUP on file (CATE

teachers must have priority)

• Files accessible via Web

Online Requirements• Log on to intranet• Big yellow box at the top, you will see the

Department recommends we complete the Educator Laptop Responsibilities Course at http://www.nisd.net/technology/laptop_responsibilities/

• I have been told it is 10 minutes long. It is 15 slides long, please complete by September 30th.

Important Dates and Info.

• I will send updates regularly to you via my blog. Cut down on space used on e-mail

• NISD Groupwise Fitness. Brandeis date is September 28th. Employee over the limit, will be notified by principal.

• Faculty and staff can still receive e-mail, but will not be able to send it.

• Geri will be notified of faculty/staff that has big numbers on their groupwise.

First Day Idea?

• How do you break the mold with your students?

• Why not try an “About Me” PowerPoint, PhotoStory, or MovieMaker Presentation?

• Could be a wiki comment or blog comment so you get to know your students.
