Page 1 It is my pleasure to share with our local community of members and professionals my vision as the 2017 Chair of CIPS HK Branch. The Branch has been building a strong local network of practitioners in the past years and I can see a steady growth of this professional community. We will continue strengthening this local professional network to promote, engage and communicate with our members, organizations and wider academic and professional communities on knowledge, best practice of procurement and supply management, standards of professional skills, ability and integrity. Hong Kong branch was saddened to hear about the sudden passing of CIPS CEO David Noble in February this year. As you will see in this newsletter David was active in CIPS Hong Kong branch events as recently as last October. David introduced in Oct 2016 CIPS HK Conference, CIPS “Supply Century”, a new position statement defining the procurement and supply profession in the coming 20 years. It highlights the key areas of future challenges and opportunities for the profession on technology and innovation, data analytics, building a resilient supply network, transforming traditional skills to value creator, extending trans- disciplinary collaboration, and sustainable procurement. We are planning our 2017 events and seminars around some of these key areas and kicked off in March our first 2017 networking seminar on introducing the standard of ISO20400 on Sustainable Procurement. We will continue sharing and promoting excellence in organizations to members and practitioners through interviewing CPO and senior procurement management. We are working with CIPS on bringing a number of training programmes here in the coming months to continue improving the professional standards and skills of practitioners. We are continuing our effort in promoting awareness of the procurement profession with education providers and students through school talks and student awards. As a local professional network, I encourage members to share your opinions and knowledge with the wider community face-to-face in our networking events or through our social media CIPS Facebook. I would like to see more of your comments and feedback so that we can better represent the interests of our local members. Finally, I would like to thank Raymond Goh, who was CIPS HK Chair for the last 3 years, for his leadership and dedication to the branch. Together with our executive committee members, who are all volunteers, we will continue our efforts in championing CIPS across Hong Kong and to enhance the status of our profession.
