This student handbook is your “must have” guide studying with Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd. (APICON) It provides information on Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd policies and on your opportunities, rights and responsibilities as a Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd student.

You will find information on how the APICON works, information on enrolment procedures,

items; 5. In case of emergency please follow the instructions given by your teacher or by the floor

About CIPS Qualifications

CIPS course are run over 5 Units. At Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd we offer 3 course through distance learning methods

CIPS is an Awarding Body recognised by Ofqual, the qualification regulator for England and

Northern Ireland, and the qualifications appear on the Register of Regulated Qualifications.

Course Leader

The course leader is Roger Oakden who has over 25 years’ experience in the Procurement and Supply Chain fields, and is one of Australia’s leading experts, having presented at conferences in Australia and overseas on numerous occasions. Roger has an extensive background as a practitioner, consultant and educator, and is uniquely qualified to provide practical learning in supply chains and logistics. Roger co-authored a book on these subjects, published by McGraw Hill. He developed the largest post-graduate Logistics program in the Asia Pacific region and undertook applied logistics research at a logistics institute. Extensive consulting and industry experience provide the practical knowledge. Roger has been Program Manager Postgraduate Logistics RMIT University Melbourne and developed and presented the largest supply chain post-graduate program in the Asia Pacific region, with centres in Melbourne, Singapore and Hong Kong. He has also been a lecturer at Victoria University Melbourne specializing in supply chain and logistic.

Entry requirements The CIPS ladder of qualifications ranges from Certificate to Professional Diploma level. There are no entry requirements for the qualifications at Certificate or Advanced certificate level. If you wish to start on a Diploma level qualification, you should have at least two A-levels (or international equivalent) or a CIPS Certificate level qualification. Students without any prior qualifications must have at least two years’ experience in a business environment.

Diploma in Procurement and Supply

This is the highest entry point to our diploma qualifications and requires a minimum of at least two A-levels (or international equivalent) or a CIPS Advanced Certificate qualification. Alternatively you need a minimum of two years' experience in a business environment.

You will need to have achieved the CIPS Advanced diploma in procurement and supply.

Exemptions

Unit exemptions may be granted depending on your prior certified learning.

Dependant on your prior learning you may qualify for an exemption to individual study units or even levels. Exemptions are designed to make sure that you do not repeat learning that has already been undertaken and recognised.

You may apply by completing the APCL application form together with a mapping document for the relevant CIPS unit to detail your existing qualification and emailing it to our exemptions department. Payment may be submitted by cheque, or by emailing or phoning in your debit or credit card details.

Mapping document templates for each unit are available from the tabs below. An example mapping document has been completed for your guidance. We will also require copies of any relevant syllabuses for the qualification that you have completed.

Student Applications, Enrolment and Fees

Application and Enrolment

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd and its approved agents select students in accordance with the entry r e q u i r e m e n t s of CIPS detailed in the entry requirements section above.

Step 1: Find a suitable course by going to the Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd Website, http://www.apicon.com.au/cousre and clicking on the Courses link to for information on all Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd courses.

Step 2: Check the entry requirements to find out if you meet both the entry requirements by going to the Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd Website, http://apicon.com.au/entry-requirements/

and clicking on entry requirements. Make sure you meet the requirements and can provide evidence if such requirements.

Step 3: Complete your Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd Application Form.

Use the website link to apply for the CIPS course of choice. If submitting the electronic Student Application Form through the website, email the above documents to [email protected]

Step 4: Make Payment of Course Fees.

Payments must be made in advance per the fee schedule noted in this manual.

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd will accept a number of payment methods. Details of how to pay will be included in your Letter of Offer, but there are a number of ways you can pay:

Paypal Credit/Debit Card through Paypal Telegraphic Transfer (TT)

However, cash payments will NOT be accepted.

Once we have received your payment and signed enrolment agreement, we will forward your electronic confirmation of enrolment (e-COE) to you.

In addition to your course fees there are a number of Administration Fees and Charges, as in the table below.

Total GLH 250 Hours Fees per module excludes CIPS Membership and official course book. Includes 26 hours E Learning Hours and 24 Tuition Guided learning hours. Total GLH 50 Hours.

Refund Policy

Refund Policy and Procedures

All refunds (apart from provider defaults) under this policy will be paid within four (2) weeks after receiving a written claim and full supporting documentation from the student.

If the student is not satisfied with a decision of the Director, appeals should be made in writing to the College Student Services Department.

Refunds will be made in Australian dollars and the College reserves the right to make refunds payable in the country of origin. Agency fees, if applicable, will not be refunded.

Where an international student requests that the refund is made payable to a relative or other person in Australia, this will only be granted if documentary evidence proves that the relative or other person paid the tuition fees.

This agreement, and the availability of complaints and appeals processes, does not remove the right of the student to take action under Australia’s consumer protection laws.

Facilities and Services__________

Student Facilities

Computer facilities

All students at Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd are supported by laboratories equipped with modern computers and visual aid devices. Enrolled students are given access to free Internet facilities, a variety of software, printing and email facilities. Individual network accounts are given to students immediately upon the processing of the enrolment form.

Wireless Internet

Students have a free access to wireless internet. Students can bring their own laptops and use WIFI for research purposes.

Library

All students at Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd have an access to Library which is located on Ground Floor, 55 Regent St Chippendale NSW 2008.

Printing

Printers are available for students to print their class and assignment work.

Student Common Room

A student common room is provided for students where they can spend their breaks in-between classes have a chat or gather for group meetings.

Kitchenette

There is a common kitchenette where students can have a snack between classes. It is equipped with a snack vending machine, a coffee machine, a microwave as well as kitchen

supplies and a LCD TV.

Suggestion box

A Suggestion Box is also available for students to give valuable suggestions to the school. Students' suggestions are constantly reviewed and appropriate improvements are implemented.

Academic Support Services

Students need to maintain satisfactory course progress throughout their enrolment. For the purposes of the course progress requirement, Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd has defined unsatisfactory academic progress as a student:

Failing to achieve Competent assessments in at least 50% of their Units in any given

term; or Failing to attain a Competent assessment in any particular Unit when that Unit has been

repeated; and Failing to meet the requirements of their intervention Study Plan.

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd understands that sometimes students may face difficulty with particular units throughout their study and this may result in difficulty to maintain satisfactory results. In these circumstances, Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd offers the following academic support to its students:

Coaching (tutorial support) sessions: Sometimes students may struggle to understand or complete an assessment of a particular unit. Under these circumstances, students can make an appointment with Course Coordinator to have the opportunity to express the difficulties they are facing with particular unit/assessment. Course Coordinator may then arrange a tutorial support session at the time convenient for both the Student and the Trainer outside of the scheduled class hours.

Feedback: During your course your trainer will give you regular feedback on an informal basis and formal feedback midway through your course to assist you with your learning and development needs.

Governance, Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager

Students who wish to find about in more detail of the Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd policy and procedures (e.g. Attendance, Course Progress Policy and Procedures, etc.) should make an appointment via Student Services Department to see the ‘Governance, Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager.

‘Governance, Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager’ together with Course Coordinator and Intervention Officer deals with the appeals of ‘Intention to Report’ cases. If you have any concerns or questions in this area, students are encouraged to make an appointment.

Academic Information and Issues

Computer Lab Usage Rules

1. Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd computer lab facilities are provided for use by registered Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd students and staff. Other persons may be allowed to use Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd computer lab facilities at the discretion of the director.

2. Keep noise levels to a minimum. Talking to others in a group at maximum voice-level is not permitted in the computer lab.

3. Misuse of Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd computer lab facilities, removal of material or equipment without permission, or unauthorised access through a computer network is not allowed.

4. Interruption to any Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd service is not allowed.

5. Storing or transmitting offensive materials on any Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd Computer System is not allowed.

6. Consumption of food or drink in teaching rooms and in labs is not allowed.

7. Installation of any software, games or any other material on any Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd Computer System is not allowed

8. Changing the settings of Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd computer systems in the labs is not allowed

9. Internet service is provided only for educational purposes. Any other use of Internet service is not allowed including downloads.

10. Watching movies and playing games on Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd computer systems is not allowed.

11. Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd holds full rights to refuse access to any student to the Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd lab.

12. Internet service may be restricted to certain students in a certain time.

13. Whilst using the facilities of the Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd computer lab you are expected to show consideration for other users.

14. Disciplinary action will be taken against those students who fail to comply with these regulations.

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd ‘s (APOICON) is committed to protecting and maintaining the privacy, accuracy and security of your personal and health information and complies with the College’s published privacy policies, commitments, guidelines and procedures which conform to and support all privacy obligation and bind the College.

APICON collects personal information, such as academic, fee and other personal details, in accordance with Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd ’s privacy commitments, guidelines and procedures for purposes relevant to your enrolment and the administration of your course (including assessment and processing of your application enrolment details and assisting with statistical and market research and planning) and to provide you with information about the courses, products and services available at Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd

You should contact us if your details change, or if you believe the information we have about you is not accurate. You may seek access to personal information held about you by contacting us directly in writing.

Code of Conduct

Today's college environments require students to use their initiative, work as team members and be honest, loyal, tactful and courteous. It is expected that you will treat fellow students and staff with respect. At Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd we expect staff and students to achieve the following "basic principles" of interpersonal behaviour.

If you do not comply with these requirements you may penalized for breaches. The severity of the penalty depends on the nature of the breach.

Personal Conduct

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd sets clear standards for student’s personal and academic conduct. The consequences of breaching this code of conduct are specified below. The laws of New South Wales do not permit smoking indoors. If you wish to smoke you must go outside the Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd building. Please make sure people can get past you on the footpath if you are smoking outside.

Interpersonal Conduct

Maintain the self-confidence and esteem of others. Be polite and courteous. Show respect for others and for those in authority. Show proper care and regard for school property and the property of others. Demonstrate honesty and integrity. Treat others with dignity and respect at all times, and especially when there is

disagreement. Respect and treat others fairly, regardless of their race, ancestry, place of origin,

colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability. Respect the rights of others. Respect persons who are in a position of authority. Respect the need of others to work in an environment of learning and teaching. Respect differences in people, their ideas and opinions. Take appropriate measures to help those in need. Follow the established rules and take responsibility for your actions. Refrain from bringing anything to school that may compromise the safety of others. Turn off mobile phones during classes and assessments. Adhere to required dress and

safety standards. Adhere to all rules, regulations and standards.

Academic Conduct

It is polite to speak English in areas where you are around people of different nationalities.

Display a professional attitude and commitment toward learning. Come to school prepared, on time and ready to learn. Leave class at the scheduled times or with the permission of your trainer/assessor. Give all class members the opportunity to listen in a quiet, non-disruptive environment. Do not come to class under the influence of drugs (prohibited substances) or alcohol. Bring all resources and equipment required to complete learning and assessment. Follow trainer/assessor instructions at all times. Complete assessment activities within the time frame given.

Police will be involved in the following cases

Possession of a weapon, including, but not limited to firearms. Use of a weapon to cause bodily harm, or to threaten serious harm. Trafficking in drugs or weapons. Robbery. Acts of vandalism causing extensive damage to school property or property located

on school premises and also bodily harm. Physical assault causing bodily harm requiring professional medical treatment. Sexual assault.

Severe Breach of Code of Conduct: Grounds for cancellation of student enrolment

Severe breaches of the code of conduct may result in the cancellation of your student enrolment Severe breaches of the code of conduct include, but is not limited to:

Academic misconduct (no Academic Progress, plagiarism).

Uttering a threat to inflict serious bodily harm. Bullying. Any form of harassment (sexual, racial, etc.). Acts of vandalism. Physical assault. Directing inappropriate or disrespectful language at any Asia Pacific International

Consulting Pty Ltd staff member. Being in the possession of illegal drugs. Being under the influence of alcohol. Contravening federal, state or local law. Obstructing any staff in performing their duties. Threatening or intimidating staff or students. Giving false or misleading information in connection with course progress and

enrolment. Compromising the privacy and confidentiality of others. Refusing to leave the class when asked to do so by a trainer/assessor. Failing to comply with student visa requirements (including poor attendance, lack of

academic progress) and failing to respond positively to academic counselling and intervention strategies.

Authorities, Procedures and Penalties

Trainer/Assessor may ask student(s) to leave an E Learning class where it is deemed necessary in accordance with any breaches outlined above, and the student will be taken to the Course Coordinator

The Course Coordinator will investigate the alleged breach and if it is sufficiently proved the Coordinator will assess its seriousness and at his/her discretion will decide the consequences of or punishment for the breach. This punishment may include, but not be limited to:

Being placed on probation; Suspension of enrolment; Cancellation of enrolment; Reporting to the relevant educational and/or immigration authorities; and Referral to the Academic Director and/or police for further action.

Complaints and Appeals

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd is committed to fair and due process, and will investigate and address any student complaint, grievance or appeal and records the outcomes of these appeals and complaints.

Complaints Procedure

In the first instance, try to resolve your matter with the staff member or student in an informal way if possible.

If the matter is not resolved then email your concern to Student Services Dept. or the Course Coordinator. Staff email addresses and a “who to contact” list can be obtained from Reception.

If the matter is still not resolved, then students at an arranged meeting can discuss the matter with the Managing Director. Student can be assisted or accompanied by a support person. Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd will maintain the student’s enrolment while the complaints and appeals process is ongoing.

Appeal Procedure

Students appealing the decisions made on reporting unsatisfactory attendance, cancellations of enrolment and academic results must complete the Appeals Form which can be obtained at the Student Services Reception.

All complaints and appeals will be dealt within ten (10) working days of lodgment. Any delay in the process of resolving a complaint or appeal will be communicated back to applicant. The decisions made will be communicated back to the student in writing with a clear justification for the reasons why the decisions were made. If the matter has not been resolved to their satisfaction, then the student may make a formal submission to the Managing Director.

Emergency and Health Services___

Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd is committed to providing a safe working and studying environment establishing and maintaining, so far as practicable, the highest standards of occupational health, safety and welfare for the employees, students, contractors and any other members of the community who may be affected by the college’s operations.

Accident/Injury

Accidents can result in the loss of life, injury, and property or equipment damage. All injuries or incidents that occur on Asia Pacific International Consulting Pty Ltd ’s premises including excursions must be reported. Students injured or involved in an incident must advise their Trainer and will be asked to complete an ‘Incident and Accident Report’ Form. Your report will assist us in determining what happened, how it happened and most important how we can prevent it from happening again.

Emergency Management

In the event of an emergency, all students are required to act as directed by the Emergency Warden. If asked to evacuate they should proceed to the Emergency Assembly Area. Please check the ‘Emergency Evacuation Map’ (located next to the toilets) for this location. An emergency evacuation is not a formal break.

Evacuation Procedures

Don’t run, Don’t panic. Pick up your personal belongings. Locate the exit. Exit the building by the fire stairwells. Do not use the lifts. Follow orders of staff and move to the assembly point.

Automatic Fire Alarm

DO NOT PANIC and IN AN EMERGENCY DO NOT USE THE LIFTS. At the sound of the ALERT Tone – (Beep, Beep, Beep) – Move immediately to the nearest

assembly area. At the sound of the EVACUATION tone – (Whoop, Whoop, Whoop) or When

requested to do so by your Emergency Warden MOVE INTO THE FIRE STAIRS IN ORDERLY MANNER to ANOTHER LEVEL OR STREET LEVEL.
