RESTITUTION WORKSHOPS – TAKE 2 CLASSES RESTITUTION is an approach to discipline and counseling which encourages a person to grow towards self-evaluation, self-discipline and self-respect. It teaches a person to behave for self-respect rather than to avoid punishment or gain a reward from another. RESTITUTION is a way to invite people to: Understand the needs behind their behavior, fix their mistakes, and learn to make better choices. Consider the social contract (shared values of the family, the school, the community) and restore themselves to these values. Behave to gain self-respect and be the kind of person they want to be. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: School administrators, teachers, educational assistants, Counselors, parents, youth counselors Corrections professionals, social workers DIANE GOSSEN, M.Ed. is a dynamic educator from Saskatchewan with many years experience in teaching Reality Therapy and Control Theory to teachers and others in helping professions, including corrections personnel. She is the author of many books and manuals including It’s All About We: Rethinking Discipline Using Restitution. She works mainly with schools throughout North America teaching the concepts of Restitution and has worked with 260 schools in the Twin Cities. JUDY ANDERSON, PH.D. Judy Anderson has been an educator for thirty-six years as a teacher for the Saint Paul Public Schools and an administrator for the Richfield School District. Judy acted as Chair of the founding Board of Directors for the Quality School Consortium. She completed her training as an instructor in the William Glasser Institute and the International Association for Applied Control Theory. Judy is the author The Social Contract and co-author with Diane Gossen of the book, Creating the Conditions, Leadership for Quality Schools.
