Chyna Soulstar was born and raised in Tottenham, a district in North Lon-don, England, on December 28th 1983 to a Jamaican Mother and Father.

Music has always been her passion since her dad passed away; who was a known reggae artiste in the 70-80’s in both Jamaica and the UK. It has always been her dream to pursue a career in the entertainment business and touch peoples lives whilst teaching as she goes along, as well as being taught, with the aim of finishing off where her dad left off! “ R.I.P PAPS! MY HEART! ”

As a youngster, from 6 years old onwards, Chyna attended Youth Clubs, dance classes as well as singing in music festivals at a time when DJ’s / Sound Systems came to compete against each other. She would per-form with a well known ‘sound system’ which was her older brother’s ‘sound’ called ‘POISON’, they were popular in the early 90’s. She would sing on their ‘dub-plates’ for showcases, events, all-dayers as it was called back in the old days.

From a young age Chyna always enjoyed creative writing which had enabled her to write poems from the age of 8 to this present day. Chyna attended Annashere Theatre School at the age of 11, where she would learn to improvise and build up her confidence in acting. She has learnt how to interact with people without feeling alert, embarrassed or inca-pable, whist advancing on other things keeping her focused on career moves in the music and acting business.

Chyna studied Perform-ing Arts ‘B-Tech National’, a 2 year college course, and then moved on to fur-

ther her career in the Mu-sic world ! From 13-17, She was part of a 4-Piece Girl Band called ‘Prestige’ . From being in the group they became known in the industry & well liked. Chyna continued to stay with the group until she was 18 then began her solo career. As a solo artist she worked

with well known DJ’s and Pro-ducers such as Manny Norte’, DJ Dodge, Trevor Nelson (aka Trevor Mad-Hatter) & Karen Weeler (soul II soul), Michelle Gayle, Craig David and the Ignorants Production Team. She then moved on to work with a group by the name of Northstar ENT. And through this she managed to perform with Lisa Maffia for her last single ‘Women of the World’ On Top Of The Pops, Save the Children, and all other mainstream programs and events.

necessary mayhem makes music work…!If you’re sick and tired of endless Negative rap, it seems you’re not alone, She’s intelligent, talented, and she’s got more on her mind than the usual mindbogglingly superficial ‘bling -bling’ lifestyle which usually goes hand-in-hand with rap, hip-hop, and Grime. Her latest single is ‘Lord Save My Soul,’ produced by ‘Curtis Lynch Jnr’ which I heard on the radio and absolutely loved. I love her sneering but completely calm delivery - she really tells it like it is, and there are some killer punch lines in the song.

The outstanding new album created by Curtis Lynch, of the internation-ally accredited independent reggae label Necessary Mayhem is set for release early next year, making it the most anticipated reggae album of 2008 and by far “the one to watch” for 2009!

Having made a name for himself as ‘the reggae producer’ to work with, Curtis has contributed to the success of many household names – Alicia Keys, Miss Dynamite, Beenie Man, The Gorillas, Collie Buddz amongst many others – capturing audiences with his unique blend of contempo-rary and vintage reggae sounds. Recently signing to Sony ATV has sig-naled many high profile production projects to come in the next year.

The album based on the works of legendary producer Gussie Clarke (credits include Gregory Isaacs, Big Youth, Maxi Priest and Rhianna), Curtis ‘Darwinises’ Gussie’s classic compositions generating a fresh perspective to Clarke’s collection. Clark reinforces the authenticity by commenting, “I was never really a fan of cover versions and re-record-ings (licking over riddims) however, listening to what Curtis has done I consider it a compliment to my originals; a rarity and a commendable effort...”
