Receive Communion Like it is the First Time
In a recent article in the June 27, 2019 Evangelist, Pope
Francis urged Catholics to receive Communion every time
like it is the first time. This is not the time to greet friends,
neighbors or to see who is at Mass & who is not. The
Eucharist is the awesome gift of God & should be received
with reverence. When the Priest, Deacon or Eucharistic
Minister says to us “The Body of Christ” let our Amen be
from the heart & with conviction. May we all remember
what Jesus did for us & give thanks.
Re-Igniting Our Faith
“As you may have heard, our parishes are participating in
the Re-Igniting Our Faith Campaign. This is an initiative
we are undertaking along with all of our fellow parishes to
grow our Church, and plan for the future. We will be pro-
viding you more information in the weeks to come but
please take some time to visit the campaign website and
watch a short video which will answer many of your ques-
tions about the Campaign. “ https://re-ignitingourfaith.org

Community of Mary
The Community of Mary, Mother of Mercy will sponsor a
Mass and Holy Hour in support of priests on Saturday, July
27, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Coliseum Church,
Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs in Auriesville, NY. The cele-
brant will be Father Frank O’Connor. For more information,
please contact [email protected].
Annunciation Kick-Off Dinner Final Report
We served 69 total dinners, including take outs. This in-
cluded 67 adult and 2 children dinners. The total income
was $1,021.00 and the total expenses were $840.00.
THANK YOU parishioners and friends for a very pleasant
evening.
Annual Parish Picnic
Please join us on Saturday, August 17th from Noon-3pm
at the St. Francis Club for the Annual Parish Picnic of The
Church of the Annunciation & Our Lady Queen of Apos-
tles. If you are attending please call Annunciation: 315-894
-3766 or OLQA: 315-894-2360 so that we can order food
accordingly. See you there!! Anyone needing more infor-
mation or if interested in volunteering please call Teresa at
315-985-5413.
“Day by Day with St. Faustina” Class
Come join us for “Day by Day with St. Faustina”! This is the
amazing story of how the Divine Mercy chaplet, Divine Mercy
Sunday & the image of Jesus showing his Divine Mercy be-
gan. We will read a little of her diary & share what she is say-
ing to us. Bring a copy of St. Faustina’s Diary & a Bible.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a book; as we can share. You
may want to have a little notebook & pen to jot down words
that speak to you. Our meetings will be Mondays at 4pm in
Room 4 at Annunciation Parish Center. We are going to read
together, pray together & break bread together. Karen
Slocum & Joy Patterson will lead the group. For anyone who
has tried to read the whole diary & found it overwhelming this
may be the class for you! All are welcomed!.
Cell Phones
We respectfully request all phones be turned off or to mute &
put away. Please do not text during Mass. We are gathered
to hear the word of God & to fully participate in the gift of the
Eucharist, so let us limit distractions.
2019 Bishop’s Appeal
The Office of Information Technology continues to work
hard to improve communication around the diocese. Al-
ready offering presentations, conferences & trainings done
by video conference so that large portions of the diocese
don’t need to travel to Albany, the IT Office is now helping
parishes with live streaming services. Please help us con-
tinue this good work. Contribute to your Bishop’s Appeal.
The RIDE and HOPE Ministries Programs Need You!
If you are a caring individual who loves working with older
adults we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you! The
RIDE and HOPE programs help seniors maintain their health
and independence while receiving the individual attention they
deserve, but in order for our programs to continue to provide
timely service to our seniors we will need more volunteers.
For more information, please call Catholic Charities of Herki-
mer County at (315)894-9917 and ask for Lori Joy, HOPE
Ministries Program Coordinator. Thank you and God Bless!!

Be Not Afraid
Meditation
Today I heard these words: Pray for souls
that they be not afraid to approach the tri-
bunal of My mercy. Do not grow weary of
praying for sinners. You know what a bur-
den their souls are to My Heart. Relieve My
deathly sorrow; dispense My mercy
(Diary, 975).
My Prayer Response:
Merciful Lord, bless souls that fear to approach
the Sacrament of Reconciliation that you call
the “Tribunal of My Mercy.” Bless fearful souls
with Your love, peace, and joy when going to
receive Your mercy in confession.
Diary passages with bolded words are Jesus speaking
- Used with permission of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Con-
ception of the B.V.M.
————————————————————————
Catechism of the Catholic Church #1468
"The whole power of the sacrament of Pen-
ance consists in restoring us to God's grace
and joining us with him in an intimate friend-
ship."
Reconciliation with God is thus the pur-
pose and effect of this sacrament. For those
who receive the sacrament of Penance with
contrite heart and religious disposition, recon-
ciliation "is usually followed by peace and se-
renity of conscience with strong spiritual con-
solation."
Indeed the sacrament of Reconcilia-
tion with God brings about a true "spiritual res-
urrection," restoration of the dignity and bless-
ings of the life of the children of God, of which
the most precious is friendship with God.
