Our Mission:The Mission of every Catholic Parish was given it by Jesus Christ when he said to the eleven “All power in heaven and earth has beengiven to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the HolySpirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28: 26-30) Our mission is to spread the Gospel!The Lord is my light and my salvation. In today s liturgy, both the first reading and the Gospel talk of darkness being changed into light: The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light . The psalm refrain reinforces this theme: The Lord is my light and my salvation .Having recently celebrated the mysteries of Christmas, our lives should be filled with the

Light of Christ. Is this light still glowing, or has it dimmed with the divisions among youlamented by Paul in the second reading? Is Christ my goal in everything I do? Also in today s Gospel, we hear of Jesus calling Peter, Andrew, James and John to be his followers. Immediately they left everything and followed him. Jesus then began teaching in the synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom . We can take this as an invitation to learn more of the teachings of Jesus during the coming weeks. If our schedule allows, we could attend daily Mass and hear the readings for each day. The 9:00 AM Mass has a large attendance, and it seems to grow daily! Consider this an invitation to join your fellow parishioners in prayer. This Friday at 11:00 AM our DVD series Pivotal Players continues with the life of St. Thomas Aquinas, another opportunity to continue to brighten the light Christ in our lives! Consider joining us. We need additional volunteers to serve breakfastand to assist with the breakdown of the cots onThursday mornings from 5:30-7:30AM. If you areinterested please come to the Auditorium entrance.

ITEMS NEEDED: Single rolls toilet paper, new men’sbriefs (underwear) sizes L, XL and XXL. We also needmen’s work boots, sizes 10 ½ through 14 and women’swarm boots sizes 10 and 11, knit stretchy hats, gloves,large size coats and jackets, large size sweatshirts andhoodies.
