WORDS OF WISDOM

The spirit of wisdom, as we discover in today’s first reading, comes to those who pray for her. Wisdom, like the word of God, carries a mes-sage of consolation as well as of great challenge. The Letter to the He-brews tells us that the word of God, infused with the wisdom of God, is “sharper than any two-edged sword.” We cannot shrink from the wisdom of God, or from the word that has the power to penetrate our hearts and minds. Jesus, the living word of God, the embodiment of wisdom, has strong, deeply penetrating words for the rich young man who comes to him seeking answers to his most profound questions. Just when the young man thought he had done enough to fulfill God’s commands, more was asked of him. This is no less true for us. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry St. Vincent de Paul will be collecting non-perishable food at mass. It will be carried to the altar to be offered with our gifts, and then put away to be given to the needy. This is the beginning of a new program and at this point, all things are needed; but we would most appreciate peanut butter, tuna fish, cereal, rice and beans. PALABRAS DE SABIDURÍA Hoy aprendemos en la primera lectura que el espíritu de la sabiduría llega a los que lo invocan. La sabiduría, como la Palabra de Dios, lleva un mensaje de consuelo y a la vez constituye un gran desafío. La carta a los hebreos nos cuenta que la Palabra de Dios, que está empapada con la sabiduría de Dios, es “más penetrante que una espada de dos filos”. No podemos acobardarnos ante la sabiduría de Dios ni ante la palabra que tiene el poder de penetrar nuestro corazón y mente. Jesús, la Pala-bra viva de Dios, la encarnación de la sabiduría, le dice cosas fuer-tes y muy penetrantes al joven rico que acude a Jesús en busca de respuestas a sus dudas más profundas. Precisamente, cuando el joven pensaba que había hecho lo suficiente para cumplir los man-damientos de Dios, se le exigió más. Lo mismo sucede en nuestro caso. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Huấn Thị Bộ Giáo Lý đức tin về an táng và giữ tro hỏa táng

Tiếp theo kỳ trước Trong đoạn 7, Huấn thị dạy rằng “để tránh mọi thứ mơ hồ phiếm thần, duy thiên nhiên hay duy hư vô, không được phép tung tro trong không khí, trên mặt đất hoặc trong nước, hoặc theo một cách thức khác, hay giữ tro trong các đồ kỷ niệm, trong một nữ trang hoặc các vật dụng khác, cũng để ý rằng không thể chấp nhận các phương thức tiến hành như thế dựa vào những lý do vệ sinh, xã hội hoặc kinh tế có thể khiến người ta chọn lựa hỏa táng”. - Sau cùng, trong trường hợp người quá cố đã công khai yêu cầu hỏa táng mình và tung tro của mình trong thiên nhiên, vì những lý do trái ngược với đức tin Kitô, thì không thể cử hành lễ an táng đương sự, chiếu theo luật (n.8). Họp báo: - Trong cuộc họp báo, ĐHY Tổng trưởng Bộ giáo lý đức tin, Mueller, bày tỏ hy vọng “Huấn Thị mới này có thể góp phần để các tín hữu Kitô ý thức hơn nữa về phẩm giá của họ là con cái Thiên Chúa (Rm 8,16). Chúng ta đang đứng trước một thách đố mới đối với công cuộc loan báo Tin Mừng về sự chết. Chấp nhận con người là thụ tạo của Thiên Chúa không trở thành hư vô, đòi phải nhìn nhận Thiên Chúa là nguyên ủy và là vận mạng của cuộc sống con người: chúng ta xuất thân từ đất chúng ta và sẽ trở về đất, trong khi chờ đợi sống lại. Vì thế cần loan báo theo tinh thần Tin Mừng về ý nghĩa sự chết dươi ánh sáng niềm tin nơi Chúa Kitô Phục Sinh, là lò tình yêu nồng cháy, thanh tẩy và tái tạo, trong khi chờ đợi người chết sống lại và sự sống trong thế giới mai hậu (Xc n.2). Như Tertulliano đã viết: “Sự sống lại của người chết chính là niềm tin của các Kitô hữu: khi tin nơi sự sống lại chúng ta là Kitô hữu” (De resurrec-tione carnis, 1,1). - Đức ông Angel Rodriguéz Luno, Cố vấn Bộ giáo lý đức tin, cho biết sở dĩ Huấn thị cấm “tung tro trong thiên nhiên”, là để tránh mọi sự lẫn lộn về đạo lý… “Thực vậy, sự chọn lựa tung tro thường xuất phát từ ý tưởng với cái chết toàn con người bị hủy diệt, đi tới độ hòa với thiên nhiên, như thể đó là định mệnh chung cục của con người. Đôi khi nó cũng xuất phát từ một sự hời hợt, từ ý muốn che dấu hoặc riêng tư hóa khi nói về cái chết, hoặc từ sự phổ biến sở thích không đúng”. Về vấn nạn: việc giữ tro hỏa táng của một người thân (cha, mẹ, vợ chồng, con cái) ở trong tư gia có thể là do ước muốn gần gũi và thảo hiếu, giúp dễ tưởng nhớ và cầu nguyện. Đó không phải là động lực thường xuyên, nhưng trong một số trường hợp có lý do ấy. Nhưng có nguy cơ việc giữ tro ở tư gia như thế có thể tạo nên sự quên lãng và thiếu tôn trọng, nhất là khi thế hệ thứ I qua đi (Xc. n.5), hoặc có thể dẫn đến những thứ tang chế không lành mạnh. Nhưng nhất là phải để ý rằng các tín hữu qua đời là thành phần của Giáo Hội, là đối tượng kinh nguyện và tưởng nhớ của người sống, nên điều tốt đẹp là di tích của họ được Giáo Hội đón nhận và gìn giữ với lòng kinh trọng, qua dòng thời gian, tại những nơi mà Giáo Hội đã làm phép với mục đích ấy, không đưa họ ra khỏi ký ức và kinh nguyện của người thân và cộng đoàn” (SD 25-10-2016) G. Xin qúy vị đem đến trước mỗi thánh lễ để làm của lễ dâng lên Chúa, sau đó sẽ phân phát cho những người cần giúp đỡ. Đây là chương trình mới của Hội. Hội cần rất nhiều thứ, đặc biệt là bơ đậu phộng, cá thu đóng hộp, ngũ cốc ăn sáng, gạo và đậu khô. Những ai cần giúp đỡ có thể đến nhận thực phẩm vào các ngày thứ Ba và thứ Năm, tuần thứ hai và thứ tư của tháng, vào buổi trưa, bắt đầu vào tháng 10. Chúng tôi xin đa tạ.

LỜI KHÔN NGOAN Bài đọc thứ nhất hôm nay dạy rằng sự khôn ngoan sẽ được ban cho những ai cầu xin. Cũng như Lời Chúa, sự khôn ngoan vừa là nguồn an ủi và cũng vừa đem lại sự thử thách. Thư gửi các tín hữu Do Thái dạy rằng Lời Chúa, chứa đựng sự khôn ngoan, sắc xảo hơn gươm hai cạnh. Chúng ta không thể từ khước Lời Chúa hoặc lời có thể ngấm thấu tâm can. Đức Giêsu, người là hiện thân của Lời Chúa và sự khôn ngoan, đã cho người thanh niên giàu có lời sâu sắc khi anh đến tìm giải đáp cho những vấn nạn khó giải. Anh ta tưởng đã làm đủ những điều cần làm, anh không ngờ lại bị đòi hỏi làm hơn nữa, chúng ta cũng vậy.
