I. JOHN’S INTRODUCTION
A. The title that John uses.
(Rev 1:9) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom
and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony
of Jesus Christ.
JOHN IS ONE OF THE ORIGINAL TWELVE (Mat 10:2-3) Now the names of
the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and
Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and
Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus…
JOHN IS ONE OF THE INNER CIRCLE
(Mat 17:1-2) And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his
brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain
apart, And was transfigured before them: and his face did
shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the
light.
JOHN IS THE ONE WHO HEARD THE HEARTBEAT OF
GOD (Joh 21:20) Then Peter,
turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus
loved following; which also leaned on his
breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that
betrayeth thee?
JOHN IS THE ONE WHO JESUS GAVE HIS MOTHER
(Joh 19:26) When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother,
Woman, behold thy son!
JOHN WAS AN EYE WITNESS TO THE TOMB
(Joh 20:1-2) The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre,
and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. Then she runneth,
and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They
have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where
they have laid him.

(Rev 1:9) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in
tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in
the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and
for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
1. The purpose why he is there to the
world
(Rev 1:9) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in
tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the
word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
2. The purpose why he is there to God
(Rev 1:9) I John, who also am your
brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the
word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
(Gen 50:20) But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to
bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
(Rom 8:28) And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
(Rev 1:2) Who bare record of the word of God, and of the
testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
(Rev 19:10) And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy
fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of
Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
B. Spiritually
(Rev 1:10) I was in the Spirit on the
Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice,
as of a trumpet,
(Eph 2:6) And hath raised us up together,
and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
IN THE SPIRIT NOT A TRANCE (Rev 1:10) I was in the Spirit on
the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of
a trumpet,(Rev 1:11) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and,
What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and
unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis,
and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.
IN THE SPIRIT NOT A TRANCE (Rev 1:12) And I turned to
see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw
seven golden candlesticks;
(Rev 1:17) And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead.
And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I
am the first and the last:
IN THE SPIRIT NOT A TRANCE (Rev 1:20) The mystery of the seven
stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden
candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and
the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
(Rev 1:2) Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things
that he saw.
