Support
Through its trade support programme and its network of offices in China, the Welsh Government can support companies in researching the Chinese market and arranging meetings with potential business partners.
The Offer
This autumn the Welsh Government is inviting Welsh companies to experience China for themselves by hosting a series of visits to
• Chongqing• Chengdu • Shanghai
The programme is designed to offer flexibility for participating companies, which can join the itinerary at any stage.
Chongqing
Chongqing is a rapidly expanding metropolis that is home to 31 million people. It is one of the commercial centres of interior China, with over 5,000 foreign companies and an annual average GDP growth rate that exceeds 10%. Chongqing is generally regarded as the gateway to Western China.
In Chongqing, companies will have the opportunity to attend the International Service Trade Summit, offering companies in a range of service sectors including ICT, Financial & Professional Services, and Creative Industries.
During Chongqing, companies can attend:
• Pre-registered one-to-one meetings and networking reception.
• Visits to companies in Chongqing.
Taking Wales to the World
Chengdu
Chengdu has seen rapid economic development in recent years. Closely linked with Chongqing, they form the two largest economies in the region. Chengdu’s major industrial sectors include; pharmaceuticals, food processing, automotive, aerospace, petrochemicals and ICT.
The city’s service sector already accounts for 50 per cent of the economy and is predicted to grow to 60 per cent within the next 10 years.
Major companies already based in Chengdu include, Motorola, Intel, Toyota, Alcatel and Lafarge.
Shanghai
Shanghai remains the commercial and financial centre of China. It’s market of over 24 million people, and the large number of international and national businesses based there, offers significant opportunities to Welsh companies across all sectors.
During the trade mission, companies will have the opportunity to visit the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) and participate in pre-arranged business to business events.
CIIF offers Welsh companies an opportunity to connect with business in the advanced manufacturing, energy, ICT and environment sectors from Shanghai and the wider Chinese market.
Cost
Companies can elect to visit one or all destinations and, therefore, costs will be determined by the level of their participation.
Travel arrangements to suit individual itineraries will be made through Welsh Government’s International Trade Team and individual quotes will be available upon request.
The maximum cost of participating in all three elements will be £1,400. Welsh government funding includes support towards
• Economy return flights• Accommodation, with
breakfast• Participation in any in-market
event fees.
This offer is available to one delegate per Welsh company.
