Letter From executive Director
I recently wrote that it makes sense to shop with those who help to make our community a success, namely, local businesses. Here are a few additional reasons to shop in Chilton County.
1. Fuel. Probably the biggest “hidden tax” on out-of-town shopping is the cost of fueling up the family car, especially in these days of rising fuel costs. Don’t forget that getting there costs more than we care to calculate.
2. Better Streets. Have you ever noticed how those communities with growing retail
districts have big broad avenues out front? Tax dollars build roads. Tax dollars come from retail sales. Every buying spree in any other town rewards that community with better streets and shortchanges ours.
3. Jobs For Our Kids. Funny how the local stores aren’t good enough until we want to line up an after-school job for our kids. If we actually shop there, our chances of getting that child a job will increase dramatically.
Just a few reasons to shop locally!
Mike RobertsonExecutive Director
