Children’s Ministry Fall 2010Glorifying God

by Treasuring Christ

above all things and

Reaching the Next Generation that they may find lasting joy in Him!

Vision Statement• We believe that parents have the primary responsibility

for exalting God and revealing Christ through His Word to their own children. Our mission is to HELP equip PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS for this God-given role. The Bible is our resource. We believe that children can grasp the deep truths of God in the earliest preschool years. We strive to present these truths with age-appropriate, joy-FILLED teaching. We use curriculum that reveals the character of God through lessons and Bible stories that are God-centered so that children will know why He is worthy of glory. We want children to know the Word of God so well that they will be able to know God for who He is and to understand how his redemptive plan has been revealed through Scripture from Genesis to Revelation.

• Our desire is that they come to Treasure Christ above all things.

We develop our programs through this filter

Questions about what is happening with Kindergarten

students this fall?

Wednesday Night Activities

• Restructure the activities to provide stronger equipping in Missions and Music.

• Wednesday night will give a greater connection for students and parents to Sunday school through cdG scripture memorization plan

• Specific leadership teams will rotate on an every other week basis providing more opportunity to equip kids for Reach ministry in drama, puppets, media, and service projects.

Wednesday Night Activities

• Each Wed. night’s activities will include a game rotation, a music rotation, and a missions rotation.

• Other options will be offered on an every other week rotation. These will include arts and crafts, drama, media, puppets, or service projects and there may be others develop along with the students’ interests.

Wednesday Night Activities

• Wednesday nights, through a partnership with parents during the week, will provide kids the opportunity to be accountable for learning their scripture verses from Sunday school. Incentives will be awarded weekly with stickers, badges, and small prizes. Books, Bibles, awards and gift certificates will given at the end of the year for completing that specific year’s worth of Sunday school memory verses. These same incentives will be used in the Missions rotation as well.

• We have a great desire to use more activities on Wed. nights to fuel student’s desire to serve God. These additional activities in Missions will help us to inspire a Biblical worldview and develop an active passion for others to come to know Jesus Christ.

Questions about Wednesday Night Activities?

Middle School Ministry• New ministry beginning this 2010-11 school year. • Age-appropriate ministry just for “tweens” (5th-6th-7th)• Fayetteville and surrounding areas have already started moving 5th graders

(just completed 4th grade) to the Middle School areas, partly due to overcrowding in the elementary and partly as a transition move for the future. Upon completion of the new FHS renovations, Middle School is expected to be 5th and 6th grades (versus the present 6th and 7th grades) with Jr. High 7th/8th and High School 9th-12th. Many school districts in Northwest Arkansas have moved to these grade divisions already.

• Students just finishing 4th grade are not developmentally ready to enter the youth department with older students.

• ZONE building is not equipped to separate Middle School students from Jr.High/High School students

• It is in the best interest of all students 5th – 12th grades to create a new Middle School Ministry just for our 5th-7th grades.

• We want to transition to this over the next 2-3 years.

Introduction of Middle School Leadership 2010-2011

• Robby and Katie Bader – Master Teachers

• Scott and Casey Rainer – Small Group Discipleship and Application Leaders

• Scott and Hannah Mager – Small Group Discipleship and Application Leaders

• Two LTP Interns (tba)

Middle School Ministry

• The west end of 2nd floor Sanctuary will be designated for Middle School Ministry. The GARAGE large group room, the classrooms in the Red hallway and the Atrium entrance with the red leather furniture will be Middle School meeting areas.

• The only shared space with Elementary (1st-4th) will be the office/restrooms area.

Transition this first year to Middle School Ministry

• The 5th graders (moving to 6th grade this fall 2010) will remain in the Large Group Elementary Summer Sunday School until Promotion Sunday on August 15th

• These students who have completed 5th grade will attend VBX this summer with the students who have just completed 6th and 7th grades. VBS is for students who have just completed 1st through 4th.

• Curriculum: cdG “To Be Like Jesus” • LTP Interns will have several special events just for 5th

graders this summer.• There will be a special event at the Bader Farm in

August before the 5th graders promote on Aug. 15th.

Transition this first year to Middle School Ministry

• We are still deciding what activities will best meet the needs for this group on Wed. nights. The Sunday morning team will be assisting in developing these activities and recruiting leaders.

• Promotion Sunday, August 15, 2010 those students entering 5th grade and 6th grade will begin in this new ministry.

Questions about the new Middle School Ministry?

How can you be involved? • PRAY for children and families. Pray for fathers to lead their

homes with strength and righteousness.

• SEEK the LORD and find an area of Children’s Ministry where you can live out His command of Psalm 145:4-7 (ESV)

One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.

They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.

They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodnessand shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

• SERVE There are so many diverse areas of servant leadership in this ministry; event planners, greeters, hospitality, music, missions, service projects, puppet ministry, drama team, crafts teams, Sunday school teachers, small group discipleship leaders, nursery and preschool extended session rotations, and many other special projects that come up throughout the year.
