• Stimulus Plan Expands Privacy Protections:– Applies HIPAA to business associates and covered entities.– Requires notification to patients of privacy breach– Prohibits sale of patient information without patient consent.– Prohibits private vendors from paying to obtain patient information for marketing purposes.
