United Way of Chennai (UWC), is a registered

society that aims to address long term needs of

the community by promoting sustained solutions,

encouraging voluntary charitable service and

volunteerism, thereby improving the overall

quality of life. The board of UWC comprises of

senior industrialists, entrepreneurs, highly placed

academicians and business leaders.

Chennai Cycling 2012A significant part of the proceeds of Chennai

Cycling 2012, will go to United Way of Chennai

(UWC), a charitable organisation affiliated to United

Way Worldwide – the largest private non-profit

entity in the world, which has raised funds of over

US$ 5 billion for social projects in 2010.

United Way’s FocusWe work with projects that help improve the

capacities and skills of the under privileged /

physically challenged, thereby enhancing their

overall quality of life. We support children

residing in government-run juvenile homes to

improve their schooling and equip them with

skills that enable employment. UWC also provides

support to disabled children with autism, cerebral

palsy, intellectual disability, aphasia and hearing

impairment.

An appealThe funds raised from the Chennai Cycling 2012

event, will go towards initiatives of UWC in the

areas of improving primary health, enhancing

education opportunities, and employment skills for

the under privileged.

WHAT IS INDIA CYCLING?The term ‘India Cycling’ was coined with the objective of reaching out to a larger audience and to

establish a sustained campaign to promote cycling as a sport and as a mode of green transport.

The editions of the ‘India Cycling’ events will host the biggest mass mobilizing cycling events

across cities of India. ‘Chennai Cycling 2012’ will kick start the journey by hosting the 1st�(GLWLRQ�

LOGO COLOURSThe logo has two main colours:

(1) Black

This colour has been used to highlight the

location of the event and to provide easy

visibility to the cyclist. It connotes stability

and strength.

(2) Blue This colour has been used in various shades

to bring alive the word Cycling. It also

strengthens the coastal cycling angle of

the event. It conveys the cool and calm

characteristics of an easy riding event.

A LOOK AT OUR IDENTITY

LOGOThe logo consists of two parts:

(1) The Logo TypeThe typeface reflects the characteristics of

the event – Relaxed & Fun.

(2) The Cycling ElementThe Cyclist is an illustration of a person

on the cycle is formed using the first 3

letters of the word “Cycling”. This supports
