The title compounds can be prepared either by dehydration of the corresponding hydrates or by melting mixtures of Sr(OH) 2 and SrCl 2 or SrBr 2 . The former method yields monoclinic Sr(OH)Br, while the melt affords a cubic modification of Sr(OH)Br. The phase transition from monoclinic (space group C2/m, Z = 4) to cubic (P2 1 3, Z = 4) occurs above 650 K. Sr(OH)Cl crystallizes in the Cd(OH)Cl type structure, space group P6 3 mc, Z = 4. — (PETER, S.; LUTZ, H. D.; Z. Anorg. Allg.
