ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING JULY 13-16: The meeting was held as a virtual meeting, using the GoToMeetings software. It lasted from 7PM to about 8:30PM every evening, and approximately 110 Brother Knights called in. The main recurring theme was” Being a Knight is not primarily an invitation to do something; it is an invitation to be someone. And that is to be gentle…a Catholic Gentleman, committed to the Catholic Faith. An important subtheme, that we should all think about, is “ the devil wants to destroy your family, but he has to come through you to do that!”. These were some of the main themes, confidential details are described in the MEMBERS ONLY file on our website

RED ENCHILADA FIESTA FUNDRAISING EVENT: The St. Genevieve Parish Fiesta has been cancelled this year because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The enchilada sale has been one of the major Church activities that our council has supported over the years. A group of volunteers was formed to put on an enchilada sale in a “Social Distancing” safe environment. The sale was held on Saturday July 25th. We thank the volunteer group for their hard work. There were too man to list individually. An estimate of 200 hours of time and talent were contributed by St. Genevieve Parishioners, the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Their safe environment is depicted in the photos below.

INSURANCE AGENT’S MESSAGE
Brothers, Ladies, and Families, Fr. McGivney to be beatified! Great news, everyone. If you hadn't heard, a miracle attributed to the intercession of our founder, Fr. Michael J. McGivney, was approved by Pope Francis on May 27th! The pope's action means that Father McGivney can be declared "Blessed," the step just prior to sainthood. An additional miracle attributed to Father McGivney's intercession will be required for his canonization as a saint. The miracle which was approved was the in-utero healing of a child from a life-threatening condition. More about that miracle can be found at: https://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/michaels-miracle or at https://youtu.be/4L90BeT1LxI When I've met with your families, you probably remember me saying that Fr. McGivney needed two miracles to be declared a saint, and that I hoped to see it in my lifetime. Now, we're halfway there. The Beatification Mass is scheduled for October 31, 2020, in Connecticut. On a personal note, the family who reported the miracle is a Knights of Columbus family that I personally know! My wife Lydia and I met them on the 2015 pilgrimage (mentioned in the above articles) to Fatima where over 200 Knights of Columbus and their families prayed together for this intention, which we believe resulted in the miraculous healing that just was approved! Please remember to ask for the intercession of Fr. McGivney for your family's intentions. We are closer than ever to witnessing the Canonization of our Founder! If you'd like a new Fr. McGivney prayer card, give me a quick call, drop me a text message or an email, and I'll get one out to you. Vivat Jesus! Matthew Seltzer (575)936-7181 [email protected]
GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE (Continued from Page 1) During this time of uncertainty due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, I ask we support our elders to fight loneliness during these critical times. Physical isolation is important for public health right now, but our elders deserve to feel supported, too. Please take the time to call or check on them to see how they are doing and if they need help – “Leave No Neighbor Behind”. Since we are encouraged to minimize our social activities we are practicing the following:
1. Our council meeting will be virtual by using the ZOOM app. The meeting will still be on the 2nd Wednesday at 6:30 pm. Prior to starting the meeting we will be praying the rosary at 6:00 pm. We invite your families to join us. Unfortunately, family members are not a 1st Degree and will have to exit after the rosary. Please understand this is standard protocol. Let this not discourage them from joining the rosary.
2. Family Unity Night, the 3rd Wednesday of the month, has been canceled until further notice. The council is looking for a Family Director. I am willing to work with him on ideas on utilizing virtual faith activities using ZOOM.
3. As Knights we are responsible for placing the Faith at the center of our families lives. That’s why we should make sure our parishes stay afloat during this pandemic. Please support your Priest and Parish Administration and offer your assistance if you are able.
Please keep all those who have been affected by this Pandemic in your prayers. God bless and stay safe,
Jaime M. Flores, Grand Knight

Knights and Friends practicing “Social Distancing” to help stop the Pandemic: Life is different for all of us because of the CoronaVirus-19 Pandemic. Things are different, but there are some good things coming out of our experience, such as helping others, spending more time with our children and grandchildren, getting to know the outdoors more, and even an opportunity to experience home teaching of our children. Some of the experiences of our Knights and Ladies are depicted below. We have a Brother Lucio and Lady Mary Tellez family camping trip in Cloudcroft over July 4th, and our Council Trustees doing the Council Audit. Enjoy the photos!
