God’s love for us is immeasurable! 1 John 3:1 proclaims, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” His incredible actions – the creation of the world and Christ’s redeeming work - demonstrate to us God’s immeasurable and unending love for us.

LeadaChild exists to “share the love of Jesus with children around the world through Christian education.” We desire that more and more children hear about God’s great love, come to trust in Him, and experience great peace, hope, and joy.

These four simple chapel outlines are created for you to use during your weekly chapel services, classroom devotions, or Sunday school openings. They explore the love God has for the whole world, for each one of us, and ways to share that love with our neighbor. Also included are a few classroom handouts and projects in order to reinforce the lessons with your students.

CHAPEL OFFERINGS If you are interested in participating in our Kids Helping Kids offering program by setting aside part of your yearly chapel offerings for LeadaChild, email me at [email protected]. As a special gift and thank you, we will send your school a gift, handmade by a Guatemalan artisan in the area around Antigua.

GOD BLESS!

See what great love...

See what great love the Father has lavished on us…

THEME SONG Jesus Loves Me

Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so; little ones to him belong; they are weak, but He is strong.

CHORUS: Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me; the Bible tells me so.

Jesus from his throne on high, came into this world to die; that i might from sin be free—bled and died upon the tree.

Jesus loves me—he who died heaven’s gate to open wide; he will wash away my sin, let his little child come in.

Jesus loves the children dear, children far away or near; they are safe when in his care, every day and everywhere.

Jesus, take this heart of mine, make it pure and wholly thine; thou hast bled and died for me; i will henceforth live for thee.

1Jesus

Loves the World

The Earth is full of your steadfast love. Psalm 119:64

INTRO: Review the days of creation; have the students respond to the wonderful gifts that God has given to us (Complete the sentences: “God gave us the sun, so that…. / God gave the seas so that… / God gave us the land, trees, and plants so that…)

• God showed His great love for the world by creating a wonderful place for all of us to live and to enjoy. He showed us even greater love by creating us in His image. That means we could be close friends with Him, talk with Him, and be part of His everlasting family.

• When Adam and Eve sinned, it broke our friendship (relationship) with God. We were separated from Him. It brought terrible curses upon the entire world (sadness, troubles, sickness, fighting, death).

• But God didn’t stop loving the world. He promised to send someone to save us. We can read about it in the first Gospel message (Genesis 3:15). Someone would be born who would fight a great battle for the world to save us all from sin, death, and the devil. He would be terribly hurt, but would be victorious over the enemy.

• At the right time, God showed us His greatest love for the world by sending His Son Jesus to live, to suffer, to die on the cross, and to rise from the dead. (Say John 3:16 together – “For God so loved the world…).

• Through His perfect life, suffering, and dying, Jesus won the battle over sin, death, and the devil. His rising from the dead is proof that He won the victory for us! (I Cor. 15:57)

BIBLE VERSE TO SHARE AND LEARN: I JOHN 4:9 This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only son into the world that we might live through Him.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for showing your great love by creating a wonderful world for us where we can live, and learn, and play. Thank you for showing us your greatest love by sending Jesus to save us all from sin, death, and the devil. Amen

Loves Me

INTRO: Play “I Know that…” Examples: I know that 2 + 2 = ; I know that today is ; I know that our principal’s name is .lesson

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in My love. John 15:9

We know many things that are true. But here’s the most important truth: I know that Jesus loves (Me!). We can all say Jesus loves me this I know because……the Bible tells me so!

This I know…because I am fearfully and wonderfully made – read Psalm 139:13-14God did a wonderful job when He created you… just as He wanted to

This I know…because He calls me His child – read Isaiah 43:1God knows your name – you are His child; He has made you His in the waters of Holy Baptism

This I know…because He cares for me each and every day – read I Peter 5:7God watches over us, provides for us and protects us

This I know…because He is preparing a place for me in heaven – Read John 14:1-4Jesus is busily preparing a special place for you. You are part of His eternal family

As His dearly loved children, we can now “abide” in His love. We are connected with Him all the time – like a vine and the branches… all His good gifts flow right into our hearts: forgiveness, faith, hope, love … and many more wonderful gifts that remind us every day that Jesus really loves me.

BIBLE VERSE TO SHARE AND LEARN: ISAIAH 43:1 Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me. Thank you for creating me, saving me from sin, death, and the devil, and calling me your child. Teach me to daily abide in your everlasting love. Amen

3Jesus

Loves My Neighbor

We love because He first loved us.1 John 4:19

INTRO: In the prayer that Jesus taught us, we say “Give us this day our daily bread.” (hold up a loaf of bread) Why do we pray for bread? Jesus meant so much more than actual bread (share Luther’s list from the petition – food, drink, clothing, shoes, house, home…everything we need for living)!

Here’s the exciting part of being a child of God - we get to be part of God’s delivery team to share His love and blessings with those around us!

• God answers the prayer of our neighbor and he uses us as His hands and feet to share His love• We share God’s love and blessings now:

▪ Helping our family at home (examples)▪ Helping our classmates and teachers at school (examples)▪ Helping our neighbors (examples)

• Someday, we will do this as adults:▪ If I become a doctor or a nurse…▪ If I become a farmer, or a truck driver, or a grocer…▪ If I become a police officer or fire fighter…▪ If I become a teacher or a pastor…

• The most important blessing we share with our neighbor is the Good News of Jesus, our Savior:▪ While we help our neighbors, we let our light shine through▪ We share the joy and hope we have as a child of God▪ We invite others to learn about Jesus, who He is and what He has done for us.

BIBLE VERSE TO SHARE AND LEARN: MATTHEW 5:19 Let your light so shine before others, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me everything I need each and every day. Use my hands, feet, and all my abilities to share your love and good gifts with those around me, especially the gift of the Good News about Jesus. Amen

4Sharing The Love of

Jesus…Around the World

INTRO: When are you excited to volunteer for something? (answers may include going someplace new and different getting a reward, seeing someone you care about, etc.). Sometimes people volunteer or sign up for something that is very important and very difficult; maybe even dangerous (examples: army, police officer, fire fighters). Why do they volunteer for these difficult jobs?

lesson

Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” Isaiah 6:8

Isaiah was ready and excited to volunteer for a great challenge, let’s read about it in Isaiah Chapter 6:

• Describe the throne of God and what the angels were doing. (Singing “holy, holy, holy… covering their face and the feet in God’s presence)

• What was Isaiah’s response to being in the presence of Almighty God? (‘Woe is me!’… I will be destroyed because I am a sinner and I have seen God)

• What did God do for Isaiah? (Touched him with a coal from the altar… forgave him from all his sins… made him right with God).

• God said, “I need a volunteer… who will go for us?” • God needs volunteers to go out and share the Good News of Jesus. Many are lost and they need to

hear about the Father who loves and cares for them, about Jesus who has redeemed them, and about the Holy Spirit who fills their hearts with faith, hope, and joy.

• How can we “volunteer now?” How can we volunteer in the future?• Share video “Just Three Words” showing children around the world who also attend Lutheran schools;

and share how we can ‘volunteer’ and help them today!

BIBLE VERSE TO SHARE AND LEARN: ISAIAH 6:8 ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am, send me.’

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank you for sending someone to me to share the Good News of Jesus. Fill my heart with a desire to help those who are still lost, and send me – through my prayers, gifts, and actions – to do your work and fulfill your will.

Q. How does God deliver this “daily bread to us?” A. Through those around us… our parents, the farmers, the grocer, the delivery truck drivers, the police officer, our friends…
