Within the TV industry there is a high demand for people who understand a channels brand and how to connect to their target audience.

1. Using the internet as a research tool, look at a range of TV idents and think about ‘What do they have in common?’ (Check out this website http://www.theidentgallery.com). From your research, write a short description of what a channel idents is and give at least three physical characteristics?

All idents have their creative imaginary sequence and entertaining style which looks very attractive to the viewers The idents I chose is Disney cinemagic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icMQ9rYq98g)

The channel idents wants to target children between 5 – 12 years old with use of the colour.

The logo of Disney is also in a shape of a mouse representing Mickey Mouse which children love.

Disney uses their elements to engage and have a friendly relationship with the audience.

2. Watch this short documentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42WejuBMEgY&feature=player_embedded comprehensively explain the purposes of channel idents and give at least three examples.

Idents are simply logo’s indentifying a brand or programme.

Makes people to stay on one channel and make it their favourite channel.

They want to make sure they don’t lose their viewer to someone else

Currently the Television market is rapidly expanding, and the corporate identity of each channel has become more and more important. With viewers being offered such a wide choice of channels to watch, it has become increasing important that the look and tone of the channel is instantly recognisable to their target TV audience.

3. Analyse two TV idents in detail (one must be E4 and the other can be of your choosing) and explain how the ident reflects the tone and feel or the channels brand.

E4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeJp-KHFP0Q I have chosen to analyze this idents from E4 in hotel room because. I find it very entertaining the animation the sequence and the style. The idents start in a simple bed room that slowly transformed into some kind of new dimension. They put teddy bear; birds, robots and some laser are firing, a fake water with a shark and some ducks. Then the E4 showed up.

Horror: ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gi9MYfeLeQ&feature=channel_video_title )I have chosen to analyze the ident that provided by horror film. It’s a channel that commonly concentrating in horror film thriller and suspense. The place is in the corridor its like someone is running in a dark corridor that only red lights is on and looking to their way out. Duration of the ident video is 15 second it finished in the elevator when the horror words appear. The colour is black and red l to make it scary. Sounds are very suspense makes the audience think what’s coming next.

4. Why is it important that TV idents are distinctive from each other? Ident represent their channel

5. What can a ‘good’ TV ident do, for the channel? A good ident can attract the viewers to stay on the channel and watch the next

series or film. Ident cant make the people change their mind like if their watching another film they wont change the channel again.

6. When you are creating an ident for use on Television what things do you need to be mindful to avoid. List 3 things
