Chamber Members Help Student Entrepreneurs through Junior AchievementSuelle Stewart and Wes Lancaster worked with teacher Amanda Donegan and facilitated aJunior Achievement (JABC) program at Our Queen of Angels. During the 7-week program, ABusiness of Our Own, students conceived and built a business. On the final day, there was ashowcase and sale. The students made a profit of $325 and donated the profit to WarmlandHouse and Salt Spring Island Daycare.

McInnes & Assoc. Volunteering in ThailandSusan McInnes of McInnes and Assoc. is volunteering in Thailand with the Raintree Foundation.The Foundation provides children's homes, foster care and schools. Susan is supporting theRaintree Foundation in setting up their accounting records to better manage donations and track their projects. The projects are in ChianMai area, in the north, and works mostly with children from the Karen tribe villages. On theweekends, Susan does some sightseeing, including a snake farm! For more, see Susan's fabulousblog about Chiang Mai, the children, photos, and more! From Susan's Blog: In 2015, the foundation supported more than100 foster children and had over 300 children in all projectstaken care of. They provide education to these kids who wouldotherwise not have access to education.

Cowichan Tribes to Provide New Youth ProgramYouth for Christ Mobile Outreach is very excited that Cowichan Tribeshas requested that we begin a program for children ages 8 - 12.Youth for Christ Victoria will provide their Big Blue Bus, volunteersand snacks. Cowichan Tribes is offering program staff and youthtransportation to the Wednesday night program that will run from7:00 - 8:30 pm. Youth for Christ would like to partner with localbusinesses. Their goal is to raise monthly donations of $2,000 to coverthe cost of the this and other programs . $200/ month alreadypledged!

Carmen Hildebrandt of Shibui Gallery Appointed Executive Director at Cowichan Valley Arts Council (CVAC) Carmen Hildebrandt, of Shibui Gallery has accepted the new CVAC position of Executive Director. It's a part timecommitment (so Shibui Gallery remains in good hands!) Carmen will oversee PORTALS, volunteer outreach, communityengagement and annual grant writing. The CVAC Board is also hiring an Office Manager, and is accepting applications.
