Gold Award Achievers this week

Thank you to the Parents/Carers who attended our
Achievement Assembly this week.
Thanks to funds
received from
Marcus Hart's
Councillors' Divi-
sional Fund, we
has been able to
buy bird watching
equipment, set up
bird identification
posts and join the
RSPB. Here are a
few shots of Year
6 working with
the new viewing
scopes. By devel-
oping a platform
where children can observe nature using appropriate equip-
ment, we can improve mental and physical wellbeing for all,
and safeguard the environment for the future. Daily contact
with nature is linked to better health, reduced levels of stress
and anxiety, reductions in obesity and improved concentra-
tion, which in turn will have a positive impact on the life
chances of all our children.
Last Thursday
Year 5 took part
in a Primary
Stem Chal-
lenge. They
spent time
learning about
what an Engi-
neer is and
what kind of jobs they do. Afterwards they were set
a challenge to build a railway station using Knex.
They had an hour to complete their design and were
given very specific criteria - two platforms, access for
everyone, a ticket office, cafe and toilets. All the chil-
dren enjoyed the challenge immensely and we were
very impressed with how they worked, their behav-
iour and the variety of designs they came up
with. The winning design was chosen by Sarah, the
STEM ambassador, and although it was a very hard
decision, first prize went to Peter Kenehan and Alex
Morgan. They will now go onto represent our school
competing against all the other Worcestershire
schools who have taken part in the challenge.
Year 1 had a thor-
oughly enjoyable
time at King
Charles I High
School on Friday
participating in a
multiskills event.
All children en-
gaged well, were
keen and enthusi-
astic and were
great ambassa-
dors for our school. Miss Campbell was extremely
proud of all of them. They took on challenges, learnt
new skills and improved upon techniques. She would
like to pass on her thanks to the staff and young
sports leaders of the high school who organised this
event to a high standard.
Ashlee Morgan and Alyssia
Duncan took their Bronze Music
Medal in Keyboard in December
and we are pleased to announce
that they both passed with
Excellence! Congratulations to
you both, we are very proud of
your achievement.

Guidance for being absent from school
Please think carefully about keeping your child at home. If they feel unwell, often it is some small
anxiety that once they are at school is dealt with easily.
If your child has a cold then please still send them in. Unless they have a contagious ill-
ness or sickness and diarrhoea please send them into school.
We would never allow a genuinely ill child to stay in school if we felt they really needed bed rest or
would be at risk to other children; so can assure you we’d ring you immediately.
If medication is required in school, eg. calpol, nurofen, antibiotics etc, as per our “Supporting Pupils with Medical Con-
ditions” policy, this can only be administered to a child if we have a completed medication consent form clearly stating
the dose and time for it to be administered. Forms can be downloaded from our website www.ccschool.co.uk, Parents
& Carers tab, Guidance for Illnesses tab and then click on the relevant tab depending on whether the medication is
prescribed or non prescribed. Forms are also available at Breakfast Club, if you are dropping your child off before
school and from the school office. Please feel free to ask for a form if one is not offered.
Persistent absence brings with it the risk of a fixed penalty notice from the Local Authority. There is no set number of
days allowed for absence because apart from exceptional circumstances, a parent must legally send their child to
school for all sessions while they are of compulsory school age.
