Course Title:Introduction to the Bible
• Course Description and Rationale: The purpose of this course is to give students a general knowledge and appreciation of
the Bible. • The student will be able to: 1. Understand the rationale for the belief in God through natural revelation and reason. 2. Understand the means by which truth can be known. 3. Trace the Bible back to the early Israelites. 4. Explain how the Bible was composed and how and by whom its books were chosen and compiled. 5. Differentiate between Jews and different denominations of Christians in terms of their beliefs about the content of the Bible. 6. Differentiate between information in the Bible which is meant to be understood literally and information which is meant to be understood figuratively or mythically. 7. Recognize the impact of Jesus Christ and belief in Jesus Christ on world history and culture. 8. Identify key contributions to history of the Jewish people. 9. Identify key contributions to history of the Christian people.
