PROGRAM

May 31, 2014

Dear Friends,

Thirty years ago Christian Heritage Academy’s founding parents prayed for a Christian school on the North Shore that would extend through high school. Today’s Class of 2014 Commencement is an answer to nearly three decades of prayer – We thank God for His faithfulness!

These graduates have been the focus of our mission – to provide an exemplary education based on biblical values, equipping them to be lifetime followers of Jesus Christ. All those touched by the Upper School understand and believe Psalm 127:1 “Unless the LORD builds the [Upper School], the builders labor in vain. “

Our celebration today is for God’s Glory Alone!

Soli Deo Gloria,

David L. Roth, Ed.D.Chief Education Officer

A Brief History of

Christian Heritage Academy

Inspired by the desire to provide children with an excellent education that incorporates biblical values and a Christian worldview throughout all facets of learning, five families came together in the early 1980’s to pray about the possibility of establishing a Christian school in the suburban North Shore area of Chicago. After more than two years of prayer, planning and preparation, Christian Heritage Academy opened its doors in the fall of 1984, with five faculty and sixty-one students in a rented former public elementary school building in Northbrook, IL. During its first ten years, the school developed a quality K-8 academic program and matured as an institution, preparing for and gaining its first accreditation from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in 1992.

Increasing enrollment brought a need for a larger facility. In 1994, CHA purchased the 15-acre Marillac High School campus in Northfield from the Daughters of Charity. The expansive facility and its excellent features, including a gymnasium, fields, auditorium, music rooms, large student center and ample classrooms, allowed CHA to continue to grow enrollment and expand its programs.

Among CHA milestones was the establishment of a preschool program in 1996, a four-year college preparatory high school in 2009, and a second campus located in the heart of the City of Chicago in 2010. As these additional programs have grown, they have enhanced our ability to serve Christian families and enriched our school community. We are now both grateful and honored to be gathered here today to celebrate CHA’s high school graduating class of 2014.

From its inception, Christian Heritage Academy’s programming has included a commitment to academic excellence in an atmosphere designed to nurture each child’s individual gifts and spiritual development. Highly qualified, ACSI certified, spiritually mature, “Living Curriculum Teachers” serve as mentors and role models, encouraging students in their walk with Christ as they gain academic proficiency.

Christian Heritage Academy is:

• Accredited by Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)

• Accredited by North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI)

• Recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)

• Recognized by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA)

• Designated as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School of Excellence

• Honored among K-12 schools nationwide by the Best Christian Workplace Institute as a “Best Christian Workplace”
