HENROB ASSEMBLY SOLUTIONS ª Copyright Henrob Corporation 2009 October 2009 Cold Formed Steel Construction The conventional method of assembling cold formed steel (CFS) is with screws or welding. These methods are labor intensive, time consuming, provide inconsistent joint strengths, and can damage the material coating. The HENROB Assembly Solution With Henrob Self-Pierce Riveting (HSPR) in approximately one second CFS members are assembled with an automatic feed, closed-loop insertion tool providing a repeatable assembly method that is efficient, strong, and non-damaging to the material coating. HSPR is a process of joining two or more materials using an engineered rivet. Unlike conventional riveting, HSPR does not use a pre-drilled or punched hole! The rivet is driven into the material stack at a controlled force - piercing the top layer(s) and flaring into the bottom layer - to form a strong, secure joint. Other advantages of HSPR: Rivets are supplied in a plastic belt and packaged on spools or in cassettes – assuring the efficient use of rivets, accurate batch traceability, and the elimination of manual handling of loose fasteners. Riveting tools are powered and controlled by a stand alone, automatic, closed loop hydraulic system - assuring accurate insertion force from rivet to rivet and simple single push button cycle actuation.

Cold Formed Steel Construction The conventional method of assembling cold formed steel (CFS) is with screws or welding. These methods are labor intensive, time consuming, provide inconsistent joint strengths, and can damage the material coating.

The HENROB Assembly Solution

With Henrob Self-Pierce Riveting (HSPR) in approximately one second CFS members are assembled with an automatic feed, closed-loop insertion tool providing a repeatable assembly method that is efficient, strong, and non-damaging to the material coating. Other advantages of HSPR:

Rivets are supplied in a plastic belt and packaged on spools or in cassettes – assuring the efficient use of rivets, accurate batch traceability, and the elimination of manual handling of loose fasteners.

Riveting tools are powered and controlled by a stand alone, automatic, closed loop hydraulic system - assuring accurate insertion force from rivet to rivet and simple single push button cycle actuation.

RIVETS

All Henrob rivets are designed and manufactured at Henrob facilities and conform to QS9001 and ISO/TS16949 quality standards. For cold formed steel assembly Henrob recommends an zinc/tin finish (H05) however, other finishes are available. Material

• Heat treated carbon steel

Head Styles • Pan head • Countersunk head

Finish • Mechanically applied zinc/tin

with a top coating

Corrosion Resistance1 • 500 hours

Diameters2 • Body - 5.1 mm • Head – 7.7 mm

Head Heights2 • Pan head - 1.5 mm • Countersunk head – 0.5 mm
