Communities of Practice• Subcommittee:
– Co-Chairs: Iris Wang and Wendy Willner– Members: Kieran Dhital, Jerian Lind, Megan Vimont
• Objectives and Goals:– Review 2013-14 subcommittee final report and determine if there
are recommendations that carry forward into the current year– Serve as owners and moderators of the CA CoP, including the
discussion groups – Recommend new discussion groups and modify/eliminate
established discussion groups as needed– Identify possible topics for CE sessions based on discussion group
discussion strings– At end of year provide one-page summary of the subcommittee’s
accomplishments and provide recommendations for future work
Continuing Education• Subcommittee:
– Co-Chairs: Jennifer LaFrance and Jenny Nguyen– Members: Norene Corder, Alicia Krystofiak, Noel Schumacher,
Megan Vimont, Traci Woollum
• Objectives and Goals:– Review 2013-14 subcommittee final report and determine if there
are recommendations that carry forward into the current year– Provide continuing education events at least once per month– Establish a core curriculum that can carry forward into future years– Participate in the planning of the CA User Group Meetings and the
2015 Sponsored Projects Symposium– At end of year provide one-page summary of the subcommittee’s
accomplishments and provide recommendations for future work
Best Practices Review• Subcommittee:
– Co-Chairs: Heidi Huff and Theresa Matheus– Members: Maria Black, Linda Bullis, Peggy Larson, Edie Nelson,
Megan Vimont
• Objectives and Goals:– Collect and review best practices from across the University– Work with the CE subcommittee to collect information from CAs on
areas where best practices/job aids and educational opportunities are needed.
– Review current best practices in accordance with revised University Policies & Procedures and the implementation of Uniform Guidance
– Create a repository for best practice documents housed on the Certified Approver Communities of Practice website
– Standardize best practice documents

Risk Recalibration• OVPR Representative:

• Objectives and Goals:– Strategically evaluate and manage risk related to research
practices, policies and procedures– Support research infrastructure and practices that help faculty to
focus more on research and less on unnecessary administrative tasks
– Streamline and update research administration processes and systems to minimize cost and maximize efficiency
• Pilot Project:– REO will engage 2-4 units, resulting in a model that will serve to
facilitate collaborative review of policies and procedures
