OBJECTIVES

Agriculture economic progress is essential for inclusive and accelerated growth in the country. Green revolution has brought unprecedented successes in enhancing agricultural production and alleviating hunger and poverty. Towards achieving the goals of livelihood security, it is important to conserve the natural resources and improve economic viability of farming. Protection and improvement of land, water, biodiversity and climate resources is a pre-requisite for sustainable agriculture production. Natural resource management issues are inherently complex as they involve the ecological cycles, hydrological cycles, climate, animals, plants and geography etc. All these are dynamic and inter-related. In addition to the natural systems, natural resource management also has to manage various stakeholders and their interests, policies, politics, geographical boundaries, economic implications and so on. It is very difficult to deal with all aspects at the same time. The emphasis on sustainability attempts to understand the ecological nature of the agriculture and allied areas. An integrated approach is needed for recognizing and implementing the intertwined social, cultural, economic and political aspects of resource management. A more holistic global perspective evolved from the Brundtland Commission and the advocacy of sustainable development. Developing location specific, cost effective, eco-friendly conservation and management technologies for higher input use efficiency, agricultural productivity & profitability without deteriorating natural resource base is vital for sustainable management of natural resources to ensure agricultural development. It is in this context, it is proposed to hold an International Conference from 12-13 January, 2017 in Varanasi, th

India, to address the issues and challenges ahead during the 21st century. The Conference is designed for students, scholars, natural resource managers, policy makers with an intention to share research and gather feedbacks on work in progress and completed papers as well. It will bring together theoretical and / or applied papers relying either on theoretical and / or applied aspects, and putting forward policy implications pertaining to natural resource management posited in national agendas. This conference will help prepare participants to address the challenges faced by natural resource managers and designed to stimulate interaction and learning on a broad spectrum of issues related to this important aspect at international level. Contributions borrowing from different scientific fields will also be considered. The Conference will include parallel sessions as well as plenary ones dealing with major issues of natural resource management
