WHAT IS CDM? CDM is the management of all

hazards through all phases of the disaster management cycle by all peoples - public and private sectors, all segments of civil society and the general population

CDM involves risk reduction & management and integration of vulnerability assessment into the development planning process

Regional vehicle for implementation of the Sendai Framework

MECHANISMS – OPERATIONAL LEVEL Baseline – where are we now?

Standardized Audit Instrument to Measure the Integration of DRM and CCA in the Agricultural Sector

Agreed results – where do we want to be? How do we get there?

Sectoral Action Plan Tools eg. ADRM Plans; drought management annexes;

CCRIF Livelihood protection products Measurement of Progress

CDM Monitor; indicators and targets

SUCCESS FACTORS Stakeholder organization and strong voice - CAFAN Political Leadership Institutional leadership - driven by mandate Programme developed based on needs Programme based approach not project Sustained support and initiatives Agreed results Institutional collaboration

WAY FORWARD

Mainstreaming of DRM and CCA in Agriculture through CDM is a shared outcome

Seeking to deepen partnerships – exploiting niche areas
