began with the creation of angels, heaven and earth. The earth wasbeautiful and full of life.

After millions of years, there wastrouble with some of the angels. This caused great problems on earth

and it became a very dark, deadplace, covered in water.

God then decided to createhuman beings. If they obeyed Him,these beings would eventually beborn into the God Family. Humanbeings needed a home, so Godrecreated the earth.

Re-creation of EarthGod created the earth by telling theWord what should be done. TheWord obeyed and completed Hiswork through the power of God’sHoly Spirit.

The earth was covered with thickclouds. On the first day of creationGod caused the dark clouds to goaway. Once again, the earth felt thewarm sunshine after a long timewithout it. This also caused night tobe dark and daytime to be bright.

Look down at your chest. Whatis it doing? As it moves up anddown, you are breathing air. On thesecond day, God created the air thatis needed for life. This air was cleanand had many big white clouds. Theair covered the earth like a giantbubble.

The next step in God’s cre-ation was to make land. On thethird day, God separated the dryland from the water. He calledthe land Earth and the waterbecame the oceans, lakes andrivers. But this dry land wasempty. So God created grasses, plants and trees to cover theearth.

On the fourth day, God let thesun, moon and stars shine bright. He did this by removing the lastof the dark clouds, gases anddust. The moon and stars werefor night and the sun was forday.

On the fifth day, God filledthe oceans with life. Fish, sharks, whales and other seacreatures were created. God alsofilled the sky with every flyingcreature. On this day, God creat-ed all the birds that you see.

God blessed these animals. This allowed both the water andair animals to multiply and fillall the earth.

The dry land still had no ani-mals. On the sixth day, Godfilled the earth with every crea-ture. He created lions, bears, squirrels, horses, and cows. He

also created rep-tiles like snakesand lizards. Theland was filledwith all kinds ofanimals.

On the sixthday, God also cre-ated man from thedust of theground. Godmade man in thesame form asHimself. Humans

have eyes and ears—and so does God! Godput men on a levelgreater than all the ani-mals in the sea, land orair. Man was in chargeof all of these animals. The first man wasAdam.

God made a specialplace for Adam to live. This place was thebeautiful Garden ofEden. God gave Adamthe job of naming all ofthe creatures on earth.Adam obeyed and lis-tened to his Creator. Henamed all the birds, all

the land animals and all the fish inthe sea.

Yet Adam was lonely. He was cre-ated on a higher level than all the ani-mals. He wanted company. God sawthat Adam wasalone and Heknew what Adamneeded. Godcaused Adam tofall into a deepsleep. He thentook a rib fromAdam and createda woman from it.When Adamawoke, God gavethis woman tohim. He was veryhappy to see afriend and a mate. Her name wasEve.

God alsoblessed Adam andEve. He told themto start a familyby having chil-dren. In time, Hewanted their chil-dren to fill theearth. God putman in charge of

all the creatures of the earth and allthe fruit of the trees and plants.

God looked at all that He hadmade. He saw the sun, moon, stars, air, land, sea, fish, birds and ani-

mals. He also saw the first man andwoman. And He said, “All I havecreated is very good.”

The earth was complete. ButGod was not done with creating.

The Sabbath

On the seventh day, God createdsomething very special. After sixdays of hard work, God created aday of rest and called it the Sabbath. He rested on this day and He com-manded man to also rest on this day.God made this a law: Man is towork six days a week, but on the lastday of the week, man must rest. Godset the seventh day as the Sabbathforever. That is why we keep theSabbath today.

God created this day becauseHe knows what is best for man. Heknows man must take time to rest,to listen to God and to learn fromHim. Every Sabbath, God wants usto learn more of His laws and wayof life. God taught Adam and Eveon this day.

Adam and Eve lived in the beau-tiful Garden of Eden. There weretwo unusual trees in the garden. Onetree was called the Tree of Life. Godtold Adam and Eve that they couldeat the fruit from that tree anytime. And if they ate from this tree, theywould live forever.

God also planted another tree, thetree of the knowledge of good andevil. God told Adam and Eve that

they could not eat of this tree. Ifthey ate its fruit, they would die.God was serious. He knew whatwas best for Adam and Eve. Heloved them and He gave them achoice.

In the Garden of Eden, there wasanother being. This being was oncea great angel, but he became evil.He hated God’s laws and His way.

His name was Satan, and in theGarden, he appeared in the form ofa serpent.

One day, Satan came to Eve. Heasked her if there was any tree thatshe could not eat from. She repliedthat she could not eat of the tree ofthe knowledge of good and evil.Because Satan hated God, he triedto get Eve to not listen to God’s lov-

ing commandment. Eve ignored what

God had taught her.She disobeyed Godand chose to listento Satan. Eve ate thefruit of the wrongtree. She made avery big mistake. She asked Adam toeat of the same tree.He disobeyed Godand ate of the tree ofknowledge, too.

This was a bigevent for man. Godhad taught Adamand Eve His laws butthey disobeyed. Byeating this fruit, theydecided to choosefor themselves whatis right and what is

wrong. When we dis-obey, there is certainpunishment we mustface.

Soon after, Godwas walking in theGarden looking forAdam and Eve.Adam and Eve werevery afraid becausethey knew they hadbroken God’s law. They were hidingfrom God.

God asked, “Haveyou eaten of the tree of the knowl-edge of good and evil?” Adamquickly said it was Eve who madehim do it. Eve said it was Satan whomade her do it.

This made God very upset. Hepunished Adam and Eve. He had noother choice. God’s law is a won-derful law, but when we disobeyGod, it is called sin. Sin brings pun-ishment.

God made Adam and Eve leavethe Garden of Eden because theysinned. He also put two great angelsat the entrance to the garden so mancould never enter. Adam and Evewere forced to build a family, workand live in a hard land.

Cain and AbelAdam and Eve had two sons. One

was named Cain and the other Abel.Cain grew up and became a farmer. He grew many vegetables andfruits. Abel grew up and became ashepherd. He looked after sheep.

Both Cain and Abel were com-manded to give an offering to God.Abel gave his best lamb, which Godliked very much. Cain gave anoffering of fruit and vegetables. ButGod did not like this offeringbecause Cain’s attitude was bad.

Cain was very jealous of hisbrother and became very angry withhim.
