    1. INTRODUCTION

    1.1. General

    This report presents the results of sampling and laboratory test at CBL river and

    CBL estuary, Bekasi, West Java. The field work activities i.e : river bed and sea

    bed sampling were carried out from February 16, 2014 to February 22, 2014.

    1.2. Purpose

    The purpose of this sampling is to obtain the information on material

    characteristic of river bed and sea bed for dredging purposes.

    1.3. Scope of works

    The scope of work consists of the following activities:

    Sampling at CBL river and at CBL estuary Laboratory testing Reporting

    1.4. Location

    The location of the sampling area is shown on Figure 1. The sampling area

    which is located at CBL river and CBL estuary, Bekasi, West Java.

    2. WORK METHODOLOGY

    2.1 Sampling Method

    Sampling has been taken by using a single core barrel with PVC 2 inch diameter.

    Sampling was made by rotating and advancing the barrels with PVC into the

    soil. Withdrawn the barrels from the hole and remove the PVC with soil sample.

    Sampling at CBL river and at CBL estuary was performed from a catamaran.

    Catamaran was constructed from two small boats having length of about 5

    meters. The two boats were connected using material such as wooden beam

    6/12 cm, wooden plank 3/30 cm, wire and nail.

    2.2 Sampling location and sampling depth

    The location of sampling is shown in Figure 2. There are 16 (sixteen) location of sampling at CBL river i.e.: CBL-1 to CBL-16 with sampling at depth of 1m, 2m and 3m below existing river bed and there are 12 (twelve) location of sampling at CBL estuary i.e: SEA-1 to SEA-12 with sampling depth at 1m below sea bed.

    3. LABORATORY TEST RESULTS

    3.1 Geotechnical test results

    The geotechnical test performed consists of water content, grainsize analysis and organic content. Water content was performed in general in accordance with standard test method ASTM D2216. The grainsize analysis was determined with the sieve and hydrometer procedures of ASTM D422. Organic content was performed in accordance with Potassium Dichromate Oxidation method of BS 1377 : Part 3:1990.

    The results table of geotechnical analysis is presented as follows :

    3.2 Heavy metal test results

    Heavy metal tests were perfomed at Laboratory of Solid and Hazardous Wastes Bandung Institute of Technology. Samples were prepared in accordance to the USEPA SW-846 Method 1311 for Toxicity Characterictic Leaching Procedures (TCLP). The analysis of heavy metal was performed by AAS.
