Today’s boys...tomorrow’s gentlemen
From the PrincipalIn Pursuit of ExcellenceOne of the constant challenges issued to our boys is for them to strive for excellence in all that they do at school. As is said many times at the College, when excellence is defined as your personal best then it is achievable for all. While only a few can perform at the elite level in any endeavour and it is important that their gifts are recognised, all of us are capable of seeking personal excellence.
This belief is reflected at our College Awards Night which is our most significant presentation ceremony and is held at the end of each year. In addition to the subject awards presented on this evening, there are numerous other prizes given for outstanding diligence and endeavour on the part of the
recipients. Those who have attended this occasion in recent years will know that awards are presented in the areas of Religious Education, Leadership, Service, Academics, the Arts and Sport.
One set of awards made on the evening are allocated to students who achieve a particularly high standard on the Performance Indicators which form part of each school report. Some changes have been made to the criteria for receiving awards in this category and they are detailed below:
Certificate of Excellence – This new award will be made to any student achieving 100% Positive Indicators on his first three reports for the year (two reports for Year 12 students as they don’t receive a report at the end of Term 3).

Certificate of Merit – The criteria for this award has been changed to achieving a minimum of 90% Positive Indicators on the first three reports for the year (two reports for Year 12 students).
Certificate of Endeavour – This new award will be made to any student in Years 7-10 who achieves between 85-90% Positive Indicators and will be presented at a special school assembly late in the year.
We know that boys respond positively to concrete targets and it is anticipated that these revised categories will further inspire each of them to personal excellence in this area.
