Hearing organs are pair of ears- left ear and right ear.The ear has a diaphragm and intricate chain of smallbones in internal part of ear which are connected to brainthrough a network of veins forming nervous system. Heresound waves are converted into electromagnetic waves.These electromagnetic waves are then carried to brainthrough a network of nervous system where it is decodedand we feel the sound. Naturally any damage or

malfunctioning of this system of internal ear will result inpartial or total loss of hearing. Scientifically speaking thisis known as Deafness.Which House(s) need to be analyzed for Deafness?Ears and entire nervous system comes under the

jurisdiction of third bhava (or third house)1. Third house

as well as third sign of Natural Zodiac is GEMINI.Therefore Gemini, its ruler Mercury and Virgo (the othersign owned by Mercury) will naturally get the jurisdictionon hearing. Secondly Mercury (lord of Gemini and Virgo)controls entire nervous system of body. As a resultMercury has been accepted as chief Karaka for hearingand ear diseases. Therefore one needs to analyze3rd house, its cuspal sub lord, the planet Mercury and

signs Gemini and Virgo for any afflictions by maleficplanets. In Medical Astrology for All2 it is stated that:As per K.P. one has to judge the sub lord of thesecond cusp for Dumbness and of the third cusp forDeafness. The sub division in the sign Taurus, i.e.

From the discussion in preceding paragraph it is clearthat third house of the Natal Chart is the main houseconnected with deafness. Therefore we will have to focusour attention to 3rd house with a view to check followingparameters.

1. Affliction to THIRD house.

2. Affliction to Cuspal Sub Lord of THIRD house.

3. Cuspal Sub Lords connection with Mercury, theKaraka planet for deafness.

4. Cuspal Sub Lords signification of 6, 8 or 12(Dussthanas)

5. Affliction to signs Gemini/Virgo which are owned byMercury.

Note: The word affliction is generally taken as bad effectsas a result of conjunction with or aspect of maleficplanets such as Saturn, Mars and Rahu. Rahu/Ketu areuniversally accepted as malefic. What about Saturn and

Mars? The reason why Saturn and Mars are said to benatural malefic appears to be based on Ashtak VargaSystem of Vedic astrology. In Ashtak Varga beneficialpower of each planet is represented by Bindu (i.e. dot)and malefic power by Rekha (i.e. dash). bindus and correspondingly less malefic rekhas.Therefore they are said to be benefic planets.However in K. P. no planet is said to be malefic unless itis connected with dussthannas (i.e. 6, 8 or 12) byplacement or lordship. Therefore we will find out thepercentage of cases where Saturn and Mars are maleficdue to their connection to 6/8/12.3 Horoscope and diseases by Mr. Chandrakant R. BhattDataIn all 60 cases will be studied. 28 cases out of these arefrom Astrodata Bank and remaining cases are taken fromvarious sources through internet. Birth details for eachcase along with analysis are available in Annexure A.

various hypothesis are given in Tables in respectiveparagraphs along with conclusions.Acceptance criteria: Any hypothesis valid for at least 75% cases is deemed to pass acceptance test unlessotherwise specifically stated to that effect.

Analysis of Data and ObservationsObservation No.1 Regarding 3 CSL (Cuspal SubLord)There are in all 9 planets. Any one of these planets canappear as cuspal sub lord of a particular house. Thereforeprobability of this event will be 1 in 9 i.e. 11.11%. Anyplanet appearing as cuspal sub lord in 16.66% cases ormore (which is 1.5 times 11.11%) will be eligible to betake seat of 3 CSL as a Rule. It can be seen that Saturn, Rahu and Venus have passedeligibility test, closely followed by Mercury. Eligibility ofMercury can be understood because, as seen earlier, it ischief karaka for deafness. But, what about Venus? Venusis lord of Taurus, the second house and second sign of

Natural Zodiac. Incidently speech, tongue and larynx areunder jurisdiction of second house of natal chart.Naturally Venus gets control over speech, larynx andvocal cords. Medically speaking Ear, Nose and Throat( ENT ) are a group of organs connected to each other,meaning any infection or malfunctioning in one affectsother. In my opinion this is the reason why Venusbecomes eligible. Surprisingly, Mars (which is alwaystaken as malefic number 2) has miserably failed toqualify.Conclusion:

If Saturn or Rahu appear as 3 CSL the native islikely to suffer from Deafness. Sometimes Mercury

(chief Karaka for deafness) or Venus (chief Karakafor dumbness) can be likely candidate as 3 CSL.Observation No. 2 Regarding 3 CSLs connection to

Mercury as Karaka for deafness.Connection of 3 CSL to Mercury is possible in many waysi.e. through conjunction/aspect to and from (1) 3 CSL,(2) its star lord, (3) its sub lord and lastly (4) star lord ofits sub lord (this is because the analysis is based on 4step theory). Therefore to accept this as a rule, in myopinion, the connection should be established in more

than 75% of cases. However it is observed that thisconnection is seen in 32/60 cases only (53.33%).Conclusion: 3 CSLs connection to Mercury doesnot fulfill acceptance criteria.

Observation No. 3Regarding Affliction of 3 CSL through malefic planetsSaturn/Mars/RahuAmong these malefic planets Rahu is definitely malefic.Generaly, in Traditional (Vedic) Astrology, Saturn andMars are considered to be Natural malefic. But, in K. P. aplanet is considered to be malefic if it is either depositedin Dussthanas (i.e. 6, 8 or 12) or it is the Lord of the 6th,8th or 12th cusp. All the cases in the data were reviewedfrom this angle to verify whether Saturn/Mars are reallymalefic as per K. P. standards. The results are tabulatedin a Table 3 appearing on next page, which are selfexplanatory.Note: Since this part of study is for academic interestonly, the acceptance criteria for this shall be furtherreduced to 56.25 % i.e. 75 percent of 75 (as

mentioned in acceptance criteria in earlierparagraphs).

them who did not surrender the power and was brutallymurdered or assassinated was Colonel MuammerGaddafi. He ruled Libya as a dictator for 42 years. Thisincident prompted me to do some research aboutplanetary combinations in Natal charts of persons whowere assassinated.DataDictionary meaning of Assassination is to kill suddenlyor secretively, especially a politically prominent person ormurder premeditatedly. So assassination is nothing but acold blooded murder. However every murder cannot beclassified as assassination as defined in dictionary. Sincesuch politically prominent, famous personalities arealways protected by their security guards, theassassination plots succeed in very rare cases. Thereforeit is very difficult to get even 25 such cases which is basicminimum requirement of size of data.

The birth data of sixteen famous personalities who wereassassinated was collected from Astro DataBank and/orWikipedia. These details are given in Appendix A.

Earlier ResearchesA quick search of internet reveals that research on thissubject is negligible. One research paper titled as AnExploratory Research on a New K P Rule of Assassination

is worth mentioning here. This was published in Feb 2008issue of one of the e-magazines.

ScopeIn K P there are no specific rules for assassination.However there are some rules and guidelines foranalyzing mode of death, place of death etc given byGuruji KSK in KP Readers. Since assassination can beclassified as death as far as the victim of assassinationis concerned these rules and guidelines will be appliedand tested on the sample data.1) 8th house is also called the house of death (KPReader II/2002 Page 205; KP Reader VI/2002 Page 118)2) While explaining Mode of Death Guruji KSKsays:(Refer KP Reader III/2000 Page 169)

(a) Danger is indicated during the conjoined periods andsub periods of the lord of sign, lord of star, the lord ofsub where the 8th cusp falls and the lord of constellationin which the sub lord is deposited.(b)Danger shown during the conjoined period of the lordof sign, lord of star, the lord of sub and the lord of theconstellation where the lord of the 8th house wasdeposited; or

(c) If the sub is ruled by a benefic, promising long life orcure, even though there is danger, one will escape andsurvive. If the sub lord is a malefic, and a significator ofdeath, one will succumb to it. Jupiter sub shows pleasantend; Mars sudden; Saturn chronic and lingering one.

(d) Gruji KSK continues further writing guidelines forpredicting Place of Death. However it is not includedhere as the same is beyond the scope of present study.3) It can be seen that Guruji KSK did not mention theconnection or involvement of 12th house in respect ofmode of death. Further while describing 12th house Gurujiexpressed it as lopasthana (house of dis-appearance){Refer K P Reader II/2002, Page 226} but neverconnected it to murder/assassination. Brief mentionabout involvement of 12th house in connection withmurder/assassination was found on page 229 of K PReader II/2002 where it says;The 12th house is the 4th house reckoned from

9th house which rules the higher mind. Countinginversely, it is the 4th house from the 3rd which is

connected with lower or ordinary mentalprocesses. Therefore, the 12th house has to do with

secret working of the mind. It (12

house) has abearing with such things as secret plots and

schemes, conspiracy and cunningness, envy andmalice, fraud and treachery, intrigue and deception

and suicide, murder or assassinationHere the reference is to 12th house of the murderer orconspirator and not the 12thhouse of the victim of

assassination. That is the reason Guruji has not linkedthis house with the death of the native.However, in earlier exploratory research mentionedabove, new Rule of assassination,If 8th or 12th cuspsub lord signifies 8, 12 then one can be

assassinated in the DBA of significators of 8 and 12houses was tested. In this research paperinvolvement/linkage of 12th cusp sub lord (in addition to8th cusp sub lord as specified by Guruji KSK) to 8th houseof death, in cases of assassinations, has beenestablished. But this cannot be relied upon because ofsmall sample size and undefined methodology. Thereforethe linkage of 12th cuspal sub lord is proposed to bestudied in present paper either to validate the rule or toarrive at some definite conclusion.Rules to be tested

1. The cuspal sub lord of 8th house is significator of 8,2 or 7 (Maraka) or Badhaka.

2. The cuspal sub lord of 8th house is significator of 12.3. The cuspal star lord of 8th house is significator of 8,

2 or 7 (Maraka) or Badhaka.4. The sign lord of the 8th house is significator of 8, 2

or 7 (Maraka) or Badhaka.5. Dasha/Bhukti/Antara lords are significator of 8 or 2

or 7 (Maraka) or Badhaka.

6. Dasha/Bhukti/Antara lords are significator of 12

7. The cuspal sub lord of 12th house is significator of 8or 12.MethodologyThe rules mentioned above will be tested on availabledata with following two systems.(A)4 Step Theory

In this theory there are two types of significations (i)strong and (ii) weak. Only strong significations areconsidered to be fruitful in materializing the event.(B) Krishnamurti PaddhatiGrade A to Grade E signification table will be the basis fordetermining whether the rules pass or fail.Signification strengths are in descending order withGrade A the strongest and Grade E as weakest. Thegrade of signification of planet does not change even ifthere are no planets in its stars (i.e. planets havingpositional status).

Each rule will be tested on data starting with case1 and is denoted as Y if the rule passes or as N if therule fails.

CONCLUSIONSv From statistical analysis of actual cases ofassassinations and the comparison tables above, it is

observed that analysis by Four Step Theory reflectsthe event (of assassination) in much better waythan reflected by K P analysis.Based on above statistical results the Rule forassassination cansafely be concluded as follows.
