May 31, 2020 Pentecost Sunday CATHOLIC PARISH DIOCESE OF CLEVELAND FORMED.ORG LOG IN: SRWSJCEUCLID.FORMED.ORG 1 Dear Parishioners, Welcome Back! Welcome Home! You have been greatly missed! It is so good to have people together again for Mass and to worship our good and loving God. I know we are all not together as a number of people, for various reasons, cannot join us yet, but we are beginning the process. Over the next several months we will work to rebuild and reinvigorate our parish. Today we celebrate the great feast of Pen- tecost. Pentecost is the celebration of the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the world. It is sometimes referred to as the birthday of the church. It is a great feast to recognize we are not in this alone. Christ gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate. The Spirit will prevail in our lives and ensure that good will triumph over evil. Things are going to be very different for a while. Schedules will not be the same, you may not be able to sit in “your pew,” there will be very limited opportunities for social interaction, we will not be singing with the music ministers, many of the liturgical min- istries will not be used, and ministry in general, outside of worship, remains on hiatus. However, this is a time for us to focus on Jesus being the reason we do everything! He needs to be our focus. I promise you that our staff and I will work tirelessly all sum- mer to bring us back. We need to do this with patience and caution. We need to do this with Faith, Hope, and Love in our Good and Loving God who will provide. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your faithful and immense generosity during this time. Between the two parishes we have over 80 people who depend on us for their income and benefits. We have utilities, insurance, maintenance, and repairs. Like many of you, the financial impact of this worried me. Yet, you all stepped up and those who could were incredibly generous. I can say that both parishes are doing okay and holding our own. I ask that you continue to be faithful to the offertory collections as best as your situation allows. God always provides and we are Blessed. I will have a more detailed financial update of the last two months in the coming weeks. As I have mentioned the focus right now is to get Mass back up and running well; to work out the kinks to allow for adherence to social distancing and health protocols. To that end, most ministries and groups will not be starting up for a while. The staff and I will work over the coming weeks to develop a plan to bring these ministries and groups back. Again, welcome home! I am so glad I can now say… “see you in Church!” Make it a great week. Peace, Fr. John Are you looking for a great watch with the family? Try out the Bible Collection on FORMED.
