AUGUST 30,2020

Dear Parishioners, I am excited to share with you that we have hired a new Director of Sacred Music. Mrs. Adriana Haw-kins (Ana) began this week and will be offering 20 hours a week of service to the Cathedral. She is working exclusively for the Cathedral and brings a great deal of experience and faith to the position. While we are so blessed to have so many wonderful talents and generous people who have made our music program so wonderful, I am very excited to have Ana join our Cathedral Parish and continue the great work of offering beautiful sacred music to enhance our worship of God. If you have any questions about our music pro-gram, or if you would like to join the choir or con-tribute to our music program, please contact Ana or me at the parish office. Also, we are looking for more catechists to assist in this coming school year in our parish School of Re-ligion. If you would be willing to help us to for the faith of our young people and help prepare them for the reception of the sacraments, please contact Linette Lopez at the parish office. Yours in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Father Saiki

MANY THANKS My wife and I thank you so much for your kind words and prayers for my brother Msgr Bob. He absolutely loved being a Priest. He had fond memories of his time here at the Cathe-dral. Ken and Mary Ann Bergman

The move comes in response to the continuing increase of COVID-19 cases in Wyan-dotte County, and only days after Public Health De-partment officials extended the Phase 3 of the Ad Astra reopening plan in Wyandotte County.

RCIA

If you are over 16 years of age, are interested in joining the Catholic Church or have been Baptized but have not received either First Holy Commun-ion or Confirmation; you are invited to join us for the RCIA program here at St. Peter’s Cathedral. Classes are no charge. The Church will supply your training materials. Classes will be on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. If you are interest-ed or have any questions, please contact Deacon Michael Hill at 913-220-5566.

RCIA Supporters Starting in September and going until Pentecost, people across Wyandotte County will be attending meetings to see if they want to become Catholic. Sometimes, these people need to have someone sponsor and support them directly as they learn about the faith. The only qualification is to show the candidates a good example of a Christian life, sustain the candidates in moments of hesitancy and anxiety, bear witness, and guide the candi-date’s progress in the baptismal life (basically be-ing yourself). If you are willing and interested to be called to help should someone not have a spon-sor, please call Deacon Michael at 913-220-5566.

These discounts are available to law en-forcement staff, firefighters, military personnel, paramedics, EMTs, rescuers, doctors, nurses, healthcare facility workers, public works employees and sanitation workers.

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls Amen.
