Introduction

Catalyst Recovery Filter for polishing and removing solids, activated carbon and catalyst from reaction mixtures and also hydrogenation reactions.

The solids are either remove from the fluid streams or re slurry and send them back to the system.

The solids can obtained in slurries with 30 – 40% moisture or with the help of dip pipes in the candle filter, catalyst with 10-15% moisture can be obtained.

GKN Sintered Candle Filter Design Manufacturing

Material used for manufacturing are stainless steel alloys, Inconel, hastel -loy, monel and other special material.

Filter elements are produced by isostatic pressing using sintered metal powder.

The material is then compacted in a pressurized solid steel core vessel with a liquid filled in it at 900 degree Celsius.

This process allows manufacture of seamless candle filter up to 1500 mm long and 320 mm diameter.

This allows flanged or threaded connections to attached simultaneously without any welding.

Sintering process fully inter link the powder particle by fusing together at temperatures below their melting point.

Types of Candle Filter

Iso Symmetric Candle Filter Iso symmetric candles are

prepared by simple sintering process.

In complex application catalyst might choke the candle filters

Asymmetric Candle Filter Asymmetric candles have a

thin protective layer to the robust support.

In complex applications where catalyst is used this type doesn’t get choked and give 99% recovery.
