Na tien succesvolle veilingjaren wordt dit jaar de 11e editie van de Dutch Sport Horse Sales gehouden. Het afgelopen veilingjaar was een recordjaar en is een bevestiging dat we op de goede weg zijn om de kwaliteit door te zetten die we in de loop der jaren hebben opgebouwd.

Het is voor ons goed om te zien dat de paarden die vorig jaar verkocht zijn zeer goede successen boeken in de sport. Dit jaar deden veel, eerder verkochte, paarden van zich spreken tijdens de wedstrijden in Florida (USA). Ook op de andere interna-tionale Youngster-tour wedstrijden zag men met regelmaat paarden van de Dutch Sport Horse Sales een podiumplaats veroveren.

Al deze zaken inspireren ons om de kwaliteit van hetzelfde hoge niveau te houden als u van ons gewend bent en wij denken dat we daar met de huidige collectie in geslaagd zijn. Wij nodigen u allen uit om u te laten overtuigen van de kwaliteiten van de paarden. Mocht u in de periode voor de veiling contact willen op-nemen met één van onze mensen, dan staan wij klaar om samen met u de juiste keuze te maken.

After ten successful auction years, the 11th edition of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales will be held this year. The previous auction year was a record year and is confirmation that we are on track to continue with the quality that we have built up over the years.

For us, it is good to see that the horses that were sold last year are very successful in the sport. This year, many previously sold horses made a name for themselves during the competitions in Florida (USA). In other in-ternational Youngster-Tour competitions we also regularly saw horses from the Dutch Sport Horse Sales winning a podium place.

All these things inspire us to maintain the same high quality that you are accustomed to from us and we think, that with the cur-rent selection, we have succeeded in this. We invite you all to come and be convinced of the horses’ qualities. Should you wish to contact one of our members of staff in the period leading up to the auction, then we will be happy to help you to make the right choice.

Paul streeft naar perfectie, hij heeft er oog voor om de beste jonge paarden op te spo-ren. Met de Dutch Sport Horse Sales kunnen zij hun klantenkring in een perfecte ambiance een goed samenge-stelde collectie 4-, 5- en 6-jarige springpaar-den presenteren.

Neil Jones De in België gesitueerde Engelsman Neil Jones heeft zichzelf ontwikkeld tot een vooraanstaand paardenhandelaar. Hij heeft jarenlang op topniveau paardensport be-dreven voor de bekende internationale spring coryfeeën Michael Whitaker en Ludo Philippaerts. Onder de naam Neil Jones Equestrian heeft hij zijn eigen naam in de markt gezet. Hij heeft wereldwijd veel te-vreden klanten die graag bij hem terugko-men.

Door zijn uitgebreide kennis en netwerk weet Neil naar welk soort paard de poten-tiële koper op zoek is. Een aantal van de geselecteerde paarden is ook zeer geschikt

Paul strives for perfection, he has an eye for tracing the best young horses. Together with the riding experience of Emile, they know exactly what a sport horse is capable of. For the Dutch Sport Horse Sales it is of great importance that these equestrian entrepre-neurs devote themselves so entirely to the selection of quality young horses. With the Dutch Sport Horse Sales they can present a collection of quality 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old show jumpers to their current clientele, in a perfect environment.

Neil Jones This Englishman is situated in Belgium and has developed into a leading horse dealer. He has many years of experience in the equestrian sport at top level. Neil gained ex-perience from the well-known international show jumping stars Michael Whitaker and Ludo Philippaerts. Active in the market as Neil Jones Equestrian he has built a reputa-tion for himself and has many satisfied cus-tomers from all over the world who gladly return to him.

Through his extensive knowledge Neil knows what sort of horse the potential cus-tomer is looking for. A number of the se-lected horses are also very suitable for vari-ous other branches of the jumping sport such as hunter divisions and equitation.

Yves Houtackers Na ruim 12,5 jaar werkzaam te zijn geweest bij Dressuur- en Springstal De IJzeren Man te Weert, is Yves in 2007 zijn eigen hippische onderneming gestart: Springstal Yves Houtackers B.V. Hij heeft zijn ervaring en kennis mede opgedaan bij de Zweedse top-amazone Malin Baryard en de Duitser Marcus Ehning. Inmiddels is Yves zelf succesvol in de springsport en is hij sinds 2014 directeur sportief bij het CHIO Rotterdam.

Voor de ontwikkeling van de Dutch Sport Horse Sales is het van belang dat een ruiter als Yves mede verantwoordelijk is voor de selectie van de jonge paarden. Yves streeft ernaar de poten-tiële koper een fijn gereden paard aan te kunnen bieden. In de collectie van dit jaar zijn uitsluitend eerlijk opgeleide paarden opgenomen die een glansrijke sportcarriëre te wachten staat.

Yves Houtackers After working 12.5 years at Dressuur- en Springstal De IJzeren Man, Yves founded his own equestrian company in 2007: Springstal Yves Houtackers B.V. He gained his experience and knowledge at the stables of the Swedish top rid-er Malin Baryard and the German Marcus Ehning. Meanwhile Yves himself has been successful in show jumping and he is sports director for the CHIO Rotterdam.

For the development of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales it is important that a rider of this level is jointly responsible for the selection of the top-quality young horses. Yves strives to offer the potential buyer a well trained horse. This year’s collection contains only honestly-trained 4-, 5- and 6-year-old horses who are at the beginning of a brilliant sports career.

Ferimain THZapatero maakt zijn opmars in de fokkerij. De relatief jonge hengst maakt furore op Grand Prix niveau onder Jessica Kürten. Ferimain TH heeft ruim voldoende potentie om zijn va-der op te volgen. De top gemodelleerde ruin springt buitengewoon voor een vierjarige. Hij beschikt over reflexen en vermogen zoals we het maar zelden zien. Dat talent spreekt voor zich wanneer we de moederlijn van Ferimain TH bekijken. Via Indoctro x Pacific x Jimtown komt hij terecht bij een volle zus van de legen-darische springhengst N.Aldato, die met Emile Hendrix in 1991 Europees kampioen werd in La Baule.

Ferimain THZapatero is making his mark in breeding. The relatively young stallion is creating furore at Grand Prix level, ridden by Jessica Kürten. Ferimain TH has more than enough potential to follow his father. The nicely-built gelding jumps exceptionally for a four-year-old. He has reflexes and ability seldom seen. That talent is self-explanatory when we look at Ferimain TH’s dam-line. Via Indoctro x Pacific x Jimtown he comes out at a full sister of the legend-ary jumping stallion N.Aldato who, ridden by Emile Hendrix, was European Champion in La Baule in 1991.

Fortunato TWe zijn blij dat we een fokproduct van één van de paradepaarden van VDL Stud aan u mogen presenteren: Fortunato T. De mooi ge-tekende zoon van Zirocco Blue valt op door zijn goede manier van springen en moderniteit. Vader Zirocco Blue behaalt momenteel vele overwinningen onder Jur Vrieling. Zo wonnen zij dit jaar nog de Grote Prijs van Geesteren. Ook aan moederszijde imponeert het pedigree van Fortunato T. Hij is namelijk een telg uit de bekende Oberlina-stam. De 1.60m paarden Zorro (Vincent Lambrecht), Utah (Michael van den Bosch) en What Ever (Jur Vrieling) komen ook uit deze stam. Fortunato T is een belofte voor de toekomst!

The beautifully-marked Zirocco Blue son attracts attention due to his good jumping technique and his modern build. Sire Zirocco Blue is currently very successful un-der Jür Vrieling. They won the Grand Prix in Geesteren this year. Fortunato T’s pedigree on his dam’s side is also impressive. He is an offspring out of the Oberlina-bloodline. Fulltime FlamencoFulltime Flamenco is een top gemodelleerde bruine merrie uit de fokkerij van Martien Liefhebber uit Hoornaar. De Ierse springrui-ter Billy Twomey en vader Je t’Aime Flamenco vormen al jaren een succesvol duo. In zijn eerste jaar op internationaal niveau viel Je t’Aime Flamenco direct op door de Grand Prix van de Horse of the Year show en Belfast International te winnen. De moederlijn staat bol van de sportpredikaten. De elite preferente sport moeder Manet gaf de AES goedgekeurde hengst Gigolo SIH (v. Mr. Blue). Grootmoeder Harmonie sprong op Grand Prix niveau met Leon Thijssen.

Fulltime FlamencoFulltime Flamenco is a top-modeled bay mare bred by Martien Liefhebber from Hoornaar. The Irish show jumper Billy Twomey and sire Je t’Aime Flamenco have formed a successful pair for many years already. In his first year at international level, Je t’Aime immediately at-tracted attention by winning both the Grand Prix at the Horse of the Year Show and at the Belfast International. The dam-line is overflow-ing with sport predicates. The elite preferente sport dam, Manet, produced the AES-approved stallion Gigolo SIH (by Mr. Blue). Granddam, Harmonie, jumped at Grand Prix level ridden by Leon Thijssen.

ForeverForever is een vierjarige zoon van Whitesnake. De Cavalier-zoon Whitesnake sprong op 1.50m niveau onder de Nederlandse amazo-ne Nathalie van der Mei. Whitesnake leverde al winnaars van jonge-paardenrubrieken. De moeder van Forever is een Oklund x Damiro x Jasper dochter. Haar volle zus Ariana wordt momenteel gereden door de Ierse ruiter Conor Swail. Forever heeft zich, mede door zijn voorzichtigheid en ongekende vermogen, weten te kwalificeren voor de finale van de Hendrix Competitie.

ForeverForever is a four-year-old son of Whitesnake. The Cavalier-son Whitesnake jumped at 1.55m level ridden by the Dutch rider Nathalie van der Mei. Whitesnake has already produced winners of youngster classes. Forever’s dam is an Oklund x Damiro x Jasper daughter. Her full-sister Ariana is currently being ridden by the Irish rider Conor Swail. Forever, partly due to his carefulness and unprecedented abil-ity, has qualified for the Hendrix Competition Final.

FairytaleFairytale is een perfect paard voor een Young Rider. De bruine Ierse merrie heeft een super instelling en springt met veel bascule. Vader Harlequin du Carel is een zoon van het interna-tionale springpaard Rosire. Harlequin du Carel gaf onder andere de internationale spring-paarden Dorada (Shane Breen), Vivs Diamond (Nick Motmans) en Du Noble (Aidan Killeen). Moedersvader Don Juan de la Bouverie is een Ierse hengst met vele nakomelingen die het uit-stekend doen in de sport. Bijvoorbeeld 1.60m paard Quick Dollar (Kyle King) en 1.35m paard Lenamore Donatella (Kenneth Graham).

FairytaleFairytale is a perfect horse for a Young Rider. The bay Irish mare has a super temperament and jumps with a lot of bascule. Sire Harlequin du Carel is a son of the international show jumper Rosire. Harlequin du Carel produced the international show jumpers Dorada (Shane Breen), Vivs Diamond (Nick Motmans) and Du Noble (Aidan Killeen), amongst oth-ers. The dam’s sire, Don Juan de la Bouverie, is an Irish stallion with many offspring that are performing outstandingly in the sport. Fulltime FortunaFulltime Fortuna is een modern gebouwde zoon van de Phin Phin-zoon Ultimo. Ultimo heeft en geeft veel ras en een goed karakter. Fulltime Fortuna is afkomstig uit de zeer succesvolle fokkerij van Peter Rinkes. De Nederlandse fok-ker uit Pesse heeft al zeer veel getalenteerde springpaarden gefokt, bijvoorbeeld de KWPN goedgekeurde hengst Orion Fortuna. Fulltime Fortuna heeft veel moderniteit vanwege het hoge volbloedaandeel dat door zijn aderen stroomt. Zijn manier van springen en bewegen geven hem meerdere kansen in de hippische sport.

Fulltime FortunaFulltime Fortuna is a modern-built son of the Phin Phin-son, Ultimo. Ultimo has, and passes on, pedigree and a good character. Fulltime Fortuna comes from Peter Rinkes’s very suc-cessful stud. The Dutch breeder from Pesse has already bred many talented jumping horses; the KWPN-approved stallion Orion Fortuna for example. Fulltime Fortuna is very modern due to the high degree of thorough-bred that pulses through his veins. His move-ment and way of jumping give him various op-tions in the equestrian sport.

FabriciusDeze vierjarige zoon van Applaus, die momen-teel zelf op Grand Prix niveau springt onder Pieter Keunen, komt uit de Grannus-merrie Grandessa. Zij gaf al eerder een Libero H-zoon die op 1.60m niveau springt genaamd Pistolen Paultje. Moedersvader Grannus behoeft geen verdere introductie. Hij staat bekend om na-geslacht met een echt topsportkarakter. Het bloed van Grannus, gecombineerd met Applaus, maakt Fabricius dan ook tot een zeer interes-sant paard. Hij heeft veel vermogen en beschikt over uitstekende rijkwaliteiten, zeker gezien het feit dat hij hengst is. Alles wat je in een vierjarig springpaard wilt zien, is vertegenwoor-digd in Fabricius.

FabriciusThis four-year-old son of Applaus, who himself is currently jumping at Grand Prix level rid-den by Pieter Keunen, is out of the Grannus-mare Grandessa. She previously produced a Libero-H son who is competing at 1.60m: Pistolen Paultje. Fabricius’s dam’s sire, Grannus, needs no further introduction. He is known for producing offspring with a true top sport character. The Grannus bloodline, combined with Applaus, make Fabricius a very interesting horse. He has much ability and excellent riding qualities, especially given the fact that he is a stallion. Everything that you wish to see in a four-year-old horse is present in Fabricius.

For the momentFor the Moment is een van de twee hengsten in de collectie van dit jaar. Hij is een zoon van de legendarische hengst Mr. Blue. De prachtige schimmelhengst Mr. Blue heeft uit een beperkt aantal dekkingen toch een forse hoeveelheid extra springende paarden geleverd waaron-der Parmala Douche, Blue Angel, Plot Blue en VDL Groep Santana. De moeder van For the Moment is even zo legendarisch. Het is de Don Juan-dochter Domina III. Deze merrie sprong op Grand Prix niveau met de Zwitser Willi Mellinger. Haar latere ruiter was Maikel van der Vleuten en hij behaalde zijn eerste successen met haar. Kortom; een serieus talent, niet alleen voor dit moment.

For the momentFor the Moment is one of the two stallions in this year’s collection. He is a son of the legend-ary stallion Mr. Blue. The beautiful grey stallion Mr. Blue has produced a great number of ex-ceptional jumping horses out of a limited num-ber of coverings, including Parmala Douche, Blue Angel, Plot Blue and VDL Groep Santana. For the Moment’s dam is just as legendary. She is the Don Juan-daughter Domina III. This mare jumped at Grand Prix level, ridden by the Swiss rider Willi Melinger. Her subsequent rider was Maikel van der Vleuten who had his first successes with her. In short, a serious tal-ent, not just for this moment.

JamesDe vijfjarige vosruin James is groot voor zijn leeftijd, maar hij gebruikt zijn lichaam fan-tastisch. James is een nakomeling van de Heartbreaker-zoon Faldiano. De combinatie met Jus de Pomme maken het een interes-sant pedigree. Faldiano werd door het BWP tijdens de tweede fase met de kampioensti-tel bekroond. Net als zijn vader is James een mooie verschijning. Hij is hoogbenig en heeft een goede bovenlijn. Zijn kwaliteit is het ver-mogen waarmee hij springt en het gevoel dat hij de ruiter geeft. James is een getalenteerde ruin met veel mogelijkheden in de sport.

JamesThe five-year-old chestnut gelding James is big for his age but he uses his body fantastically. James is an offspring of the Heartbreaker-son, Faldiano. The combination with Jus de Pomme make this an interesting pedigree. Faldiano was crowned champion by the BWP during the second phase. Like his father, James has a beautiful appearance. He has a good top-line. His quality is the ability with which he jumps and the feeling that he gives his rider. James is a talented gelding with many possibilities in the sport.

EscoffierDeze zeer jeugdig uitziende zoon van Lord Z beschikt over een uiterst lichtvoetige manier van springen. Daarnaast blinkt hij uit door vermogen. Zowel Franke Sloothaak als John Whitaker hebben aan meerdere Grote Prijzen en Wereldbekerfinales deelgenomen met Escoffiers vader Lord Z. Moeder Wunderfull Vera is niemand minder dan de volle zus van de Grand Prix-hengst Van Gogh (Marco Kutscher). Dit jaar won Van Gogh nog de Diamand Tour tij-dens het Eschweiler Jumping Festival. Escoffiers eigen manier van springen, zijn vele vermogen en zijn atletische bouw maken het een zeer in-teressant sportpaard voor de toekomst.

EscoffierThis very youthful-looking son of Lord Z has an exceptionally light-footed way of jumping. In addition, he stands out due to his ability. Both Franke Sloothaak and John Whittaker have taken part in several Grand Prix and World Cup Finals with Escoffier’s sire, Lord Z. Dam Wunderfull Vera is no-one less than the full-sister of the Grand Prix stallion Van Gogh (Marco Kutscher). This year, Van Gogh won the Diamond Tour during the Eschweiler Jumping Festival. Escoffier’s own way of jumping, his great ability and his athletic build make him a very interesting sport horse for the future.

Marchello ZOngekend vermogen en enorme reflexen, daarmee worden de pluspunten van Marchello Z goed samengevat. Het is een groot geraam-de ruin van de internationale springhengst Marome NW (Gert Jan Bruggink). Zij wonnen vele grote prijzen. Het is bewonderenswaardig hoeveel goede springpaarden Marome NW heeft gebracht uit relatief weinig dekkingen. De moederlijn van Marchello Z bracht Eddy Mackings Grand Prix paard FAN Schalkaar. In het voortraject naar de veiling bleek Marchello Z al een bijzonder opvallend paard waardoor de verwachtingen hooggespannen zijn.

Marchello ZUnprecedented ability and tremendous re-flexes, this summarises Marchello Z’s pluses very well. He is a large-framed gelding by the international jumping stallion Marome NW (Gert Jan Bruggink). They won many Grand Prix. It is admirable how many good jumping horses Marome NW has produced out of relatively few coverings. Marcello Z’s dam-line produced Eddy Mackings’s Grand Prix horse FAN Schalkaar. In the run-up to the auction Marcello Z proved himself to be an exception-ally talented horse, as a result of which expec-tations are high.

CalvéCalvé bezit zeer veel reflexen en heeft een topinstelling. De mooie vosmerrie heeft veel meegekregen van Major de la Cour. Major de la Cour bracht het getalenteerde paard Joly Coeur die onder Franke Sloothaak doorgroei-de naar de absolute wereldtop. Daarna zien we H.Almé Z in het pedigree terug dat gekoppeld wordt met een volbloed moeder. Dat maakt het papier van Calvé nog interessanter. Het is een paard waarvan de selectiecommissie weet dat zij nog veel van zich zal laten zien in de sport.

Evenals de reflexen en het vermogen dat hij toont op de sprong. Hij wil absoluut foutloos naar de overkant. Lordanos is een topleveran-cier van springpaarden. Hij tekende voor het vaderschap van ontzettend veel Grand Prix paarden. Onder andere: Loakoon (Hendrik Sosath) en Lord (Juan Carlos Alvarez del Castillo). Lorstakov is een ideaal paard voor een Young Rider die de stap wil maken naar de hogere sport.

EstorilDeze ruin uit 2009 ontving zijn dekbrevet van het Belgisch Warmbloedpaarden stam-boek. Inmiddels is hij ruin en kan hij zich vol-ledig focussen op zijn sportcarrière. De BWP-goedgekeurde dekhengst Ixion van het Netehof komt tevens uit deze moederlijn. Estoril is een zoon van de Grand Prix springhengst Toulon (Hubert Bourdy). Wekelijks komen we nako-melingen van de Heartbreaker-zoon tegen bovenaan in de resultatenlijsten. Estoril is een zeer makkelijk paard in de omgang dat veel ver-mogen toont. Dat maakt hem een ideaal ama-teurpaard.

EstorilThis gelding from 2009 received his cover-ing license from the Belgian Warmblood Studbook. Since then, he has been gelded and can now concentrate completely on his sports career. The BWP-approved stud stal-lion Ixion van het Netehof is also an offspring from the same dam-line. Estoril is a son of the Grand Prix jumping stallion Toulon (Hubert Bourdy). Every week we find offspring of the Heartbreaker-son at the top of the results lists. Estoril is a very easy horse who shows a lot of ability. This makes him an ideal horse for amateurs.

Interview - Willi Melliger“Cooperation across borders makes life more interesting, right?”

The 61-year-old Willi Melliger lives with his wife and three children in the Swiss Neuendorf. The legendary show jumper Calvaro is inextricably linked to this former Olympic rider. In 1996 the combination won individual silver during the Olympic Games in Atlanta. But it did not stop there; during the Games in Sydney in 2000 Switzerland won team gold. As if that is not enough, Willi and Calvaro also won four medals at the World Championships. The success even resulted in a book starring Calvaro and entitled: White Myth.

Willi Melliger: “I have known the Hendrix family for a very long time. We have frequently worked together over the past years. Not just because The Netherlands has acquired a good position in international equestrianism, but also due to the great amount of knowledge the Dutch horsemen and women have. The Hendrix family is a perfect example of this. For many years Willi was one of Switzerland’s most successful riders. He therefore knows as no other what a good show jumper should have. “ What I know for sure is that you need a good horse to be able to become a better rider. It is definitely not easy to find that one horse, but there are ways to reach your goal more quickly. That is, for example, to buy horses from people who know what a good horse is. That is why I buy at the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. Each year I go to the auction and I am always amazed at how they can find such quality horses.”

Willi himself no longer competes but still looks for good horses for his clients. Does he bring them to the Dutch Sport Horse Sales or does he come by himself? “ Sometimes I bring clients with me if I find a horse in the collection that I think would suit them. I also go on my

own and buy horses for myself. I have to fill my own yard too, haha! I rarely buy via the telephone. I personally find it better to look at the horses with my own eyes. It gives more insight and is of course much more fun too.”

In 2008 Melliger bought the grey Curacao (Carpola x Lordanos). He says about this horse: “This horse shows me every day that it will become a perfect Grand Prix horse. Last year I bought Escada (Chacco Blue x Ircolando). This mare has a great pedigree and learns very quickly, that is what I like.”

As the prominent horse dealer travels all over the world visiting auctions he can make a good comparison. What are the differences between the Dutch Sport Horse Sales and other auctions that he has visited. “Each auction has its own style. The Dutch Sport Horse Sales is definitely one of the best auctions I know. It says enough that I see people from all over the world back in Weert every year. Cross-border cooperation makes life ever more interesting, right?”

Interview - Jennifer & Michael Crooks“S.F. Uryadi is the best horse I have ever ridden!”

Michael and Jennifer Crooks run the splendid Stella Farm in the American Sandpoint, Idaho. They met each other through a blind date that was arranged for them by mutual friends who thought that it could be a good match; how right they were! Their loving family now consists of no fewer than twelve children, seven of which are adopted. As part of their business, young talent is schooled, riders are trained and horses are prepared for the big competitions.

Since 2006, Michael and Jennifer Crooks are regular visitors to the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. Jennifer tells how they came into con-tact with the auction: “A friend of ours told us about a five-year-old mare that was going to be sold via a Dutch auction. Three days before the auction this same friend called us and told us that we had to had to get on the next plane to come and buy the horse of my life at the Dutch Sport Horse Sales. Michael flew to The Netherlands and every day I am glad that he did so. That was the year that we bought S.F Uryadi!” Since then Jennifer and S.F. Uryadi have won a great number of Grand Prix.

They also bought S.F. Ariantha, a grey mare by Corland, via the auction. Jennifer tells about the two horses: “Both are exceptionally talented Grand Prix horses. They are both very differ-ent, that makes it so great to work with them. S.F. Uryadi is not just the best horse that I have ever bought via the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, she is the best horse that I have ever ridden! A horse with more bascule does not exist. She is kind and courageous at the same time and has taken me to the level at which I am now.”

What, according to Jennifer, are the advantages of an auction such as the Dutch Sport Horse Sales? “As we have such a large family we don’t have time to travel across Europe and to look at horses. Via Neil’s, Yves’s, Paul’s and Emile’s auction we are able to see many of the best young horses in Europe in a short space of time. Another big advantage is that Paul and Emile are masters at scouting for young talent. But even more importantly: they give honest advice about which horse would suit you best. It gives a lot of confidence that they almost never get it wrong.” laughs Jennifer.

With twelve children, as well as a big heart you especially need team work. Michael and Jennifer know how to combine working with the hors-es and family life perfectly. “Michael and I work very well together. Of course, we could not be without the help of our families. Owners Daryl and Samia Staehle and Olivia Cox-Hill always support us too.”

This year too this top team is coming to Weert to look at the collection themselves. “We are looking for horses for ourselves, but also for clients. It is great to know beforehand that the long journey is certainly worth the effort.”

Interview - Joy Lammers“Without the Dutch Sport Horse Sales, I don’t think that I would ever have become a professional rider.”

Just across the Dutch border lies the Belgian Hamont-Achel. This is the location of the wonderful Stal Mulkhoeve complex that, run by Dutch rider Joy Lammers, trains young jumping horses. The 26-year-old Joy came into contact with the Dutch Sport Horse Sales via Yves Houtackers, her trainer for the past 19 years. The Lammers family bought three horses via the auction.

Joy has had her best successes to date with the Namelus R-daughter, T. Sellie. These in-clude two national Grand Prix (Kessel and Roggel) and two international Grand Prix (Odense and Genk). We asked her how im-portant the Dutch Sport Horse Sales has been in her development as a rider. “It may sound a bit strange, but without the auc-tion, I don’t think that I would ever have become a professional rider. Because we bought T.Sellie as a four-year-old, I suddenly had a horse on which I could seriously com-pete for prizes. She developed so well and I enjoyed it so much that after my studies I

chose to concentrate entirely on equestri-anism. She gave me a future in the sport.”

In recent years Joy has become an oppo-nent to be seriously contended with. She is very successful with Dutchboy (Veron x Lux) and Bravour (Padinus x Cantos), who were purchased via the auction. Dutchboy, born in 2008, has been jumping outstand-ingly well these past six months. “He has suddenly become more mature and seems to be really becoming an exceptional jump-ing horse. The dark bay gelding Bravour was recently sold and is now ridden by the Belgian rider Nadège Janssen. “We bought him at the auc-tion as a five-year-old and he is now eight. That is the ideal situation for our yard: buy a talented, young horse and train him further for selling on. In this case the auction gave us a stable basis on which to build further. You have to start with quality.”

What, according to Joy, are the advantages of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales? “The big advan-tage is that it offers something for everyone, especially now that six-year-olds have also been added to the collection. It is possible to buy a good four-year-old, but you can also buy a talented horse that has already proven himself. I also think that the committee has an exceptional insight into young horses. Each year the collection is as solid as a rock.”

Donadoni HXDonadoni HX is een bruine ruin uit de fokkerij van Stal Hendrix. Zijn reflexen, voorzichtigheid en goede instelling maken Donadoni HX een zeer opvallend springpaard. Zijn volle broer Carvalho werd vorig jaar via de Dutch Sport Horse Sales verkocht. Vader Ustinov was onder Caroline Müller reeds internationaal succesvol. De moederlijn van Donadoni HX gaat terug op N-Aldato. N-Aldato is het paard waarmee Emile Hendrix in La Baule goud behaalde tij-dens de Europese kampioenschappen in 1991. Via grootmoeder Grey Lady gaat de Donadoni HX terug op een Hannoveraanse moederlijn die vele goede paarden gaf. De bekendste nako-meling uit deze lijn is Noble (v. Noble Sire) van Michel Hendrix.

Donadoni HXDonadoni HX is a bay gelding bred by Stal Hendrix. His reflexes, carefulness and ex-cellent attitude make Donadoni HX an ex-ceptional jumping horse. His full-brother Carvalho was sold via the Dutch Sport Horse Sales last year. Sire Ustinov was in-ternationally successful under rider Caroline Müller. Donadoni HX’s dam line goes back to N-Aldato. N-Aldato is the horse with which Emile Hendrix won the gold medal in La Baule during the European Championships in 1991. Via granddam Grey Lady, Donadoni HX goes back to a Hanoverian dam-line that produced many good horses. The most well-known off-spring out of this bloodline is Michel Hendrix’s Noble (by Noble Sire).

Veterinary reports The horses sold through the auction have been found to be in good condition following a radio-graphic test conducted at least three months prior to the auction. A standard clinical exami-nation (for sport horses) has been completed at the latest two weeks prior to the auction.

1. Algemeen1.1 De Dutch Sport Horse Sales [Hendrix

Events B.V., zaakdoende onder de naam Dutch Sport Horse Sales] (hierna zowel afzonderlijk als gezamenlijk te noemen: DSHS), organiseert in haar functie van bemiddelaar tussen verkoper en koper op dinsdag 23 september 2014 de Dutch Sport Horse Sales (hierna te noemen: de veiling) op de accommodatie van Dressuur- & Springstal De IJzeren Man B.V. te Weert. De veiling zal plaatsvinden onder toezicht van een notaris.

1.2 Deze veilingvoorwaarden zijn van toe-passing op alle tijdens de veiling gesloten koopovereenkomsten met betrekking tot via DSHS aangeboden paarden, alsmede alle overeenkomsten die daaruit voortvloeien.

1.3 Op deze overeenkomsten is Nederlands recht van toepassing.

1.4 Deze voorwaarden worden vóór aanvang van de veiling bekend gemaakt en zijn in de veilingcatalogus opgenomen.

2. Verkoop/VeilingTijdens de veiling zullen de paarden onder het zadel voorgesteld worden. De paarden zullen tijdens de veiling per opbod in Euro’s worden verkocht, tenzij anders aangegeven, met een mi-nimale inzet van € 20.000,- Er wordt geboden in bedragen van € 1.000,- tot € 50.000,-, vervol-gens in bedragen van € 2.000,- tot € 100.000,- en daarboven in bedragen van € 5.000,-. Een potentiële bieder/koper zal aan zijn/haar bod worden gehouden, totdat een eventueel hoger bod volgt. Krijgt de koper de afslag door de veilingmeester toegewezen dan is die betref-fende koper verplicht het rekening bedrag te

1. General1.1 The Dutch Sport Horse Sales [also known

as Hendrix Events BV, trading under the name Dutch Sport Horse Sales] (hereinaf-ter individually and collectively referred to as: DSHS), organises in its function as an in-termediary between sellers and buyers the Dutch Sport Horse Sales (hereinafter: the auction) on the Tuesday 23rd of September 2014 on the property of Dressuur- & Springstal De IJzeren Man BV in Weert in the Netherlands. The auction will be held under the supervision of a notary.

1.2 These auction terms and conditions are ap-plicable to all sales agreements concluded during the auction related to the horses of-fered via DSHS, as well as any agreements resulting from that.

1.3 This agreement is governed by Dutch law.

1.4 These terms and conditions are to be an-nounced prior to the start of the auction and are also included in the auction cata-logue.

2. Sales/AuctionDuring the auction horses will be presented under saddle. The horses will be sold during the auction by bidding in the Euro currency, un-less otherwise stated, with a minimum starting bid of € 20,000.-. Bids are to be made in incre-ments of € 1,000.- at a time up to € 50,000.-, after which bid increments are to be made in € 2,000.- at a time up to € 100,000.-, and above that bid increments are to be made in € 5,000.- at a time. Potential bidders/buyers will be held to their bids until a higher bid has been received. If the auctioneer awards a bid to a buyer, the relevant

voldoen, zoals in artikel 3 berekend. In geval van twijfel betreffende de geldigheid van een afslag, kan het laatste opbod weer aangenomen wor-den en zal het opbieden hervat worden. De no-taris beslist bindend over eventuele geschillen die bij of tijdens het bieden ontstaan.

3. Afrekening veilingbedrag en -kosten3.1 Direct na afloop van de veiling dient de ko-

per zijn/haar betalingsverplichtingen te ver-vullen op het veilingbureau. Indien de koper hieraan niet voldoet, is DSHS gerechtigd de bieding niet te erkennen en ongeldig te ver-klaren en het gekochte paard opnieuw te veilen, dan wel het gekochte paard toe te wijzen aan de een na hoogste bieder. De koper is in dat geval van rechtswege in ver-zuim en is gehouden de daardoor veroor-zaakte schade aan DSHS te vergoeden, on-verminderd de overige rechten van DSHS.

3.2 Het rekening bedrag wordt als volgt berekend: Afslagprijs + 6% commissietoeslag + 1½% verzekering (optioneel) +

Rekening bedrag exclusief 21% BTW Het rekening bedrag is per direct opeisbaar.

Betaling geschiedt per bank, het is niet mo-gelijk het rekening bedrag in contanten te voldoen. Verrekening van eventuele tegen-vorderingen is uitgesloten.

3.3 Het is DSHS toegestaan om informatie in te winnen omtrent de financiële gegoed-heid van een betreffende bieder/koper en deelname aan de veiling door en het sluiten van een overeenkomst met de betreffende bieder/koper afhankelijk te stellen van de ingewonnen informatie.

3. Settlement of auction amounts and expenses3.1 Immediately after completion of the auc-

If a buyer should fail to comply with this obligation, DSHS shall be entitled not to recognise the offer and to declare the auction invalidate, after which the purchased horse will again be made available for auction or alternatively the purchased horse is to be allocated to the second highest bidder. The buyer shall in this event be considered to be in legal default and shall be liable to compensate DSHS for any damage incurred, without prejudice to any other rights that DSHS may have.

3.2 The amount due shall be calculated as follows: Auction price + 6% commission charge + 1½% insurance (optional) +

3.3 DSHS is entitled to gather information on

3.4 Bij afrekening op het veilingbureau bestaat de mogelijkheid voor de koper om een verzekering af te sluiten voor het gekochte paard. Een dergelijke verzekering wordt niet door DSHS afgesloten.

4. Veilingpaarden; aansprakelijkheid4.1 De aangeboden paarden in de veiling zijn

geïdentificeerd op afstamming, geslacht, kleur en geboortejaar, zoals deze in de ca-talogus zijn aangegeven. DSHS sluit aanspra-kelijkheid uit met betrekking tot de gezond-heidstoestand, de prestaties en/of gebruiks-doeleinden van de te veilen paarden.

4.2 DSHS is niet aansprakelijk voor schade aan personen of zaken, ontstaan voorafgaand aan, ten tijde van en na de veiling, behou-dens indien deze schade het gevolg is van opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid van DSHS of haar leidinggevende ondergeschikten.

4.3 De paarden die via de veiling verkocht zullen worden zijn ten laatste 3 maanden voorafgaande aan de veiling röntgenolo-gisch in orde bevonden. Een gebruikelijke klinische (sportpaarden-)keuring heeft ten laatste twee weken vóór de veiling plaats-gevonden.

4.4 De veterinaire bevindingen kunnen vooraf-gaande aan de veiling op verzoek van de potentiële koper worden ingezien en toe-gelicht door veilingdierenarts E. Enzerink, of zijn plaatsvervanger.

5. Afgifte, risico- en eigendomsoverdracht5.1 Direct na de gunning van een paard gaat

4.2 DSHS cannot be held liable for damage to persons or property arising prior to, during or after the auction, except if such damage is caused by intent or deliberate reckless-ness on the part of DSHS or its subordi-nates.

antwoordelijkheden en aansprakelijkheden, alsmede alle risicofactoren overgedragen aan de betreffende koper. De koper zal DSHS vrijwaren voor alle aanspraken van derden ter zake.

5.2 De eigendom van het gekochte paard gaat op de koper over op het moment van af-name als bedoeld in artikel 5.3 van deze voorwaarden, doch niet eerder dan nadat koper de volledige koopsom en eventuele op grond van niet-nakoming verschuldigde bedragen aan DSHS zal hebben voldaan.

5.3 De koper is verplicht het gekochte paard af te nemen op de door DSHS vastge-stelde plaats en tijd en bij gebreke daarvan binnen de daarvoor in de veilingcatalogus gestelde termijn, indien DSHS daarom verzoekt op vertoon van een deugdelijk legitimatiebewijs. De levering van het ge-kochte paard vindt plaats door de afname. De afname bestaat uit het door de koper ophalen van het gekochte paard. De afna-me kan eerst plaatsvinden nadat de volle-dige koopsom en het overigens verschul-digde door de koper is voldaan. Indien de koper de afname weigert of nalatig is met het verstrekken van informatie of instruc-ties noodzakelijk voor de afname zal het gekochte paard door DSHS worden weg-gehaald en worden gestald voor rekening en risico van de koper. De koper is in dat geval verplicht alle aanvullende kosten, waaronder in ieder geval de stallingskos-ten, aan DSHS te vergoeden.

6. Tekortkomingen (waaronder stalondeugden) 6.1 Indien een koper van oordeel is dat het

gekochte paard na feitelijke levering niet

accepted, any risks related to the purchased horse shall be transferred to the buyer and any responsibility and liability, as well as all risk factors are transferred to the respec-tive buyer. The buyer shall indemnify DSHS from any claims brought by third parties.

5.2 Ownership of the purchased horse pass-es to the buyer at the time of release as defined in Article 5.3 of these terms and conditions, but not before the buyer has settled the full purchase amount and any other amounts due to DSHS resulting from non-compliance.

5.3 The buyer is obliged to take possession of the purchased horse at the place and time as specified by DSHS, or in the absence thereof, within the term defined in the auction catalogue and upon presentation of a valid identity document, if requested by DSHS. Delivery of the purchased horse takes place by means of its release. Release consists of collection of the purchased horse by the buyer. Release may only take place after settlement of the purchase price in full and any other amount due by the buyer. If the buyer should refuse re-lease or if he/she should fail to provide in-formation or instructions required for the release, DSHS shall remove the purchased horse and keep it in stables at the expense and risk of the buyer. The buyer shall then be obliged to compensate DSHS for any additional costs incurred, including stabling costs in any event.

6. Shortcomings

6.2 Verkoper staat ervoor in dat het door de koper gekochte paard, tenzij voorafgaand aan de verkoop meegedeeld, niet lijdt aan de stalgebreken luchtzuigen, systematisch weven of kribbebijten en wel gedurende een periode van 2x 24 uur na feitelijke afle-vering aan de koper.

6.3 Indien een dierenarts, geregistreerd als keuringsdierenarts voor paarden of paar-dendierenarts, schriftelijk meedeelt dat één van de in artikel 6.2 genoemde stalgebre-ken naar zijn deskundig oordeel bestond vóór de datum feitelijke aflevering, heeft de koper het recht de koopovereenkomst te ontbinden met alle daaraan verbonden ge-volgen.

7. Geschillen7.1 Alle geschillen - daaronder begrepen die,

welke slechts door één der partijen als zodanig worden beschouwd – welke naar aanleiding van de koopovereenkomst ge-sloten op de veiling danwel naar aanleiding van deze veilingvoorwaarden met DSHS ontstaan, worden beslecht door NAI-arbitrage (Nederlands Arbitrage Instituut te Rotterdam), danwel in het geval de ko-per consument is, op diens verzoek over-eenkomstig het Burgerlijk Wetboek, door de gewone burgerlijke rechter, in welk geval in eerste aanleg uitsluitend de Rechtbank Limburg bevoegd is.

does not conform to the contract descrip-tion after actual delivery, the buyer shall not be entitled to any recourse if the seller has not been informed thereof by regis-tered letter within three weeks after the discovery (with a copy to DSHS).

6.2 The seller warrants, unless notified of such prior to the sale, that the horse purchased by the buyer does not suffer from any sta-ble vices such as cribbing, systematic weav-ing or wood chewing for a period of 2 x 24 hours after actual delivery to the buyer.

6.3 If a veterinarian, registered as an inspection veterinarian for horses or a horse veteri-narian should state in writing that one of the stable vices listed in Article 6.2 was established in his/her expert opinion prior to the date of actual delivery, the buyer shall be entitled to terminate the purchase agreement with all resulting consequences.

7. Disputes7.1 Any disputes with DSHS - including those

that are considered as such by only one party - resulting from the purchase agree-ment concluded at the auction or following from these auction terms and conditions, shall be settled by NAI Arbitration (Dutch Arbitration Institute in Rotterdam), or if the buyer is a consumer as defined in the Dutch Civil Code, in an ordinary civil court upon his/her request, in which case only the Court of First Instance in Limburg shall be entitled to rule on the matter.

7.2 If the seller or DSHS intends to file pro-

7.2 Indien de verkoper of DSHS een proce-dure aanhangig wil maken, zal zij indien de koper consument is, hem/haar gedurende een maand in de gelegenheid stellen schrif-telijk zijn/haar keuze als bedoeld in artikel 7.1 hiervoor, kenbaar te maken. In geval van een spoedeisend belang (kort geding) kan de verkoper (casu quo DSHS) de termijn bekorten tot vijf werkdagen.

7.3 Steeds zal DSHS, ingeval sprake is van een blijvend geschil, op eigen titel bemiddeling tussen koper en verkoper initiëren (medi-ation) al dan niet, naar haar keuze, op haar kosten. Gekozen kan worden een derge-lijke mediation te laten plaatsvinden over-eenkomstig het NAI-mediationreglement.
