1. From Rotterdam:From Rotterdam take the A13 in the direction of Den Haag. Take the exit to Den Haag-Zuid, Rijswijk. You are now on the A4 heading towards Den Haag-Zuid.

1. From Amsterdam:Take the A4 in the direction of Den Haag (Zuid).

2. From the A4:Take the exit Den Haag Zuid, Hoek van Holland, Wateringen.

GW SERIESDe Gier B.V. has invested considerable time and energy in recent years in the development of its GW motor gearboxes. As a result, the GW series has proven to be a reliable driving force for horticultural and agricultural applications, such as ventilation and screening systems, hoist heating and feed / drink systems.

GW motor gearboxes are designed to meet the following criteria:

- Powerful- Self-locking transmission- Durable- Low noise level- Low maintenance- Compact dimensions- Straightforward universal installation- II-I B certificate for your CE approval

The high power and low number of revolutions ensure optimum adjustment for the system to be driven, such as a climate control system, in a very economical way. GW motor gearboxes stand out for their quiet operation and minimal wear, not least due to the quality of the cogwheels and the other high-grade materials used.

As a standard the GW motor gearboxes are equiped with a linear limit switch system, with operating and emergency switches. Each motor is suited to put in an optional position feedback (potentiometer or MultiPosblok) for connection to a control system. The limit switch system’s standard switching range is 86 revolutions of the driven shaft of the motor gearbox.

The GW series is available with a torque in the range of 10 Nm to 1500 Nm.

GW10 CHAIN COUPLING The GW10, with chain couplings on the driven shaft, has a number of applications, such as the hoisting of feeder or drink lines and the opening of vents.

As a standard the GW10 is fitted with a chain coupling set with a duplex chain according to DIN chain number 08B-2 or 10B-2. The sprocket wheel joint is available for a 1” (08B-2), 5/4” or 2” (both 10B-2) drive tubes. The motor gearbox can be mounted at the side or at the base. The electric motor’s protection category is IP55, according to EN60529.

The GW10 can optionally be fitted with a tube-bolt chain coupling set for 1” or 5/4” drive tubes. Electric motors with different voltages and/or frequencies or a higher protection class, for

instance tropic winding, are available on request.

GW100 CHAIN COUPLINGThe GW100, with chain couplings on the driven shaft, has a number of applications, such as the hoisting of feeder or drink lines and the opening of vents.

As a standard the GW100 is fitted with a chain coupling set with a duplex chain according to DIN chain number 12B-2. The sprocket wheel joint is available for 5/4” or 2” drive tubes. Attachment of the motor gearbox is possible at the side or base. The electric motor’s protection category is IP55, according to EN60529.

Electric motors with different voltages and/or frequencies, or a higher protection class, for instance tropic winding, are available on request.

GXP10 COUPLING PIECEThe GXP10 coupling piece has a number of applications, such as roll screen systems and side ventilation systems.

The GXP10 has a double drive shaft of Ø19.5 mm and can be attached to a roll tube of Ø32 mm or Ø50 mm by means of a coupling. A Ø32 mm tube can guide the system.

The standard execution is with couplings for Ø50 mm tube and with guidance for Ø32 mm tube.

Other versions e.g. single phase motors or motors with tropical isolated windings have normal electric motors with cooling ribs.

GXP10 COUPLING PIECE TThe GXP10 coupling piece T has a number of applications, such as roll screen systems and side roll ventilation systems. The “T” version is better suited to humid environments.

The GXP10 has a double drive shaft of Ø19.5 mm and can be attached to a roll tube of Ø32 mm or Ø50 mm by means of a coupling. A Ø32 mm tube can guide the system. The electric motor protection category is IP55, according to EN60529.

Electric motors with different voltages and/or frequencies are available on request.

GW 2 L WINCHMOTORThe GW 2 L is a compact winchmotor with an integrated control. It was specially designed to drive air inlet valves in livestock stables.

As a standard the GW 2 L is equipped with a single cable winch drum (diameter 40 mm), a mounting frame, integrated controls, alarm output and a built-in emergency battery. The GW 2 L is suited for 0 – 10 Volt control signal. Because of the emergency bat-tery the motor still has the ability to open the air inlet valves during a power failure.

The electric motor’s protection category is IP55, according to EN60529.

The GWK-serie, with self-braking worm wheel transmission (reduction i=35), is used, among other applications, in continuous ridge ventilation systems or panels in stables.

Chain coupling sets with a duplex chain according to DIN chain no.08B-2 with 16 links can be supplied for the shafts of the GWK240 and 10B-2 for the GWK400.The sprocket wheel joint is available for 1”, 5/4” or 2” drive tubes.The worm gearbox is supplied with mounting attachments on two sides.

As an option the GWK-series can be fitted with a tube-bolt chaincoupling set for 1” or 5/4” drive tubes. Also available with a continuous entry shaft or with an extended outgoing shaft on one side.

The GWK-serie with continuous entry shaft has a self-braking worm wheel transmission (reduction i=35) and is used, among other applications, in continuous ridge ventilation systems or panels in stables.

Chain coupling sets with a duplex chain according to DIN chain no.08B-2 with 16 links can be supplied for the shafts of the GWK240 and 10B-2 for the GWK400.The sprocket wheel joint is available for 1”, 5/4” or 2” drive tubes.The worm gearbox with continuous entry shaft can be mounted on two sides.

As an option the GWK-series can be fitted with a tube-bolt chaincoupling set for 1” or 5/4” drive tubes. Also available with a extended outgoing shaft on one side.

The THG30 gearcase is designed for opening windows in a continuous ridge ventilation system or panels in stables. The THG30 is suited for medium to intensive use. The version P.THG30.UNIT.K(2) is suitable for average use and is equipped with plastic slide bearing rings. The version P.THG30.UNIT is equipped with bronze slide bearing rings and is therefore suited for intensive use.

Depending on the system, the rack box can be driven by a GW motor gearbox or a GWK worm gearbox. The pinion, which is by default suited for a 1” (33,7 mm) drive tube, is secured to the drive tube by means of two M8x12 set screws. The tightening torque for the setscrews is 8 Nm.

As an option for drive tube Ø32 mm a clip is available. And to adjust for drive tubes 3/4” (Ø27 mm) an adapter tube is available.

The THG30-Economy gearcase is intended exclusively for ventilation systems in light weight structures, for instance in plastictunnels without intensive climate control. The THG30-Economy isdesigned for use with a 2 mm rack. Depending on the system, therack box can be driven by a GW motor gearbox or a GWK wormgearbox.

The casing of the THG30, suitable for a 1” (33,7 mm) drive tube, is made of sendzimir galvanised steel plate and has high-grade plastic slide bearings and a slide block. The pinion is secured to the drive tube by means of two M8x12 set screws. The tightning torque for the set screws is 8 Nm.

As an option for drive tube Ø32 mm a clip is available. For drivetube 3/4” (Ø27 mm) a adapter tube is available.

The chain pocket wheel is used to drive the GWK240 and GWK400 worm gearboxes by hand. The chain pocket wheel set consists of a pocket wheel, an 8 meter chain with connecting link and chain guidance. The pocket wheel is mounted on the ingoing axle of the worm gearbox. On site the chain can be adjusted to length.

THG30 GEAR RACK 2 MMThe gear rack for the THG30 rack box is manufactured from sendz-imir galvanised steel plate. The rack is 30 mm in height, and has awall thickness of 2 mm. The rack is fitted with a run-out safeguardto prevent the gear rack from running out of the gearcase. The rack is also fitted with a blow-out safeguard to prevent the gear rack from blowing out when it is in the run-out safeguard position.

The rack is available in various lengths, depending on the requiredstroke, and has ø6.5 mm holes for the attachment of the windowbracket.

As an option the rack can also be bent with internal or externaltoothing, or be provided with ø8.5 mm or ø10.5 mm holes.

The HKK120 distribution gearbox (1:1) is used in the THG30 drive system. The ingoing shaft of the HKK120 is hollow so it can be mounted over the 1” tube driven by a GW motor gearbox. The tube has to be fixed with 2 M8 bolts. The drive tube is branched off at a 90° angle in the gearcase, for example to drive a GWK worm gearbox.

As a standard the HKK120 distribution gearbox comes complete with an integrated mounting plate.

The telescopic arm TSP40 has been specially developed to drive the side ventilation in plastic greenhouses and stables. The roll tube of the ventilation system is connected by means of the TPS40 with the drive shaft of a GW10 motor gearbox.

The telescopic arm is manufactured from stainless steel, and is available for bridging various ventilation heights. Universal joints mounted on both ends provide a maximum angle of 30° in relation to the centre of the telescopic arm.

A coupling piece for the drive shaft of the GW10 is also available. The 1” or 5/4” roll tube can be connected to the TSP40 with a weld joint.

The double winch drum is suitable for mounting over a 5/4” drive tube. The galvanised winch drum is fixed with two spring dowel pin and can be used for hoisting drinker- or feeder lines. Multiple wichdrums can be placed on one GW gearbox driven 5/4” tube.

The winch drum is supplied in two executions. The standard execution is 110 mm wide. We also have a 326 mm wide execution for extra capacity.

The bush joint connects the driven shaft of the GW motor gearboxor a GWK240 worm gearbox with the drive tube of a ventilation orscreen system. The bush joint is only recommended when there isnot enough space for a chain coupling set, and only if the driveshafts are perfectly aligned.

The bush joint is available for 1” or 5/4” drive tubes. The hole forthe connection with the driven shaft of the motor gearbox or wormgearbox has a diameter of ø18 mm or ø25 mm, depending on thetype. The bush joint is secured to the shaft by means of an M8x12set screw.

The MultiPosblok is a multifunctional block that provides very ac-curate information on the position of the GW motor gearboxes, and is therefor a good alternative for the potentiometer. The MultiPos-blok tackles all the disadvantages of the potentiometer. The Multi-Posblok has solid state hard- and software, so humidity or dirt does not influence the MultiPosblok, which makes it more reliable then the potentiometer. It improves the position feedback of the driven system to the control computer.

The setting up of the MultiPosblok is simple. It can de done by us-ing the magnetic setting-stick that comes with it. It makes it easy to set the limits of the driven system.

The connecting set for the GXP10 consist of a power cable, a con-trol cable and a protective cable chain with mounting set. This set allows for the GXP10 to run up and down freely without the risk of entangling the cables.

The BC250S is part of the BC250 control system and takes care of the protection of the individual motor gearbox. The BC250S con-tains a motor protection circuit breaker and a static reverser. Due to the reverser each gearbox can stop individualy at its own end posi-tion, whilst all motors can still be controlled centraly.

The BC250S is connected to the BC250M with only one linked-through 3-phase powercable. The motor gearbox is connected to the BC250S with a 3-phase power cable and a 5-wire cable for the control signal.

The BC350 is a control box which can operate two or three sections of side screen. The control box is disigned for the GXP10 gearbox and will be installed on one 1-phase power and one control cable. The BC350 can be used for replacing existing 1- phase side-screen systems or in new projects.The controlbox makes it possible to control the bottom screen independent of the other side-screens.

The integrated frequency controllers make it possible to connect the controlbox to a 1-phase power supply tut still control 3-phase motor gearboxes.

As an option the BC350 can also be conected with a 3 phase power cable and a 0 cable.

LIMIT SWITCH SYSTEMAPPLICATION AND OPERATION

The limit switch system is solely intended for use in GW motor gearboxes manufactured by De Gier B.V.•Depending on the type of motor gearbox, the driven shaft of the motor gearbox can make a maximum of 34, 88 or •1400 revolutions.Operating temperature: -15°C to +60°C.•

The clutch shaft of the limit switch system is driven by a transmission between the driven shaft of the motor gearbox and the screwed spindle (1). During normal operation the switch nuts (5) will move linearly in the direction of one of the operating switches (S11 or S12), depending on the direction of rotation of the screwed spindle (1). When the set starting or limiting position is reached, the switch nut (5) will hit the stop (2). The switch nut will start to turn with the screwed spindle (1) and push the switch spring (6) of the operating switch (S11 or S12). The operating switch (S11 or S12) will send a signal to the relay, which switches off the motor gearbox’s electric motor. If the relay or the operat-ing switch (S11 or S12) are not functioning properly, the switch spring (6) of the emergency switch (S21 or S22) will be pressed. The emergency switch (S21 or S22) will send a signal to a safety relay, which switches off the control and therefore the electric motor. This prevents any consequential damage occurring to the driven system.

MOUNTINGThe following points must be taken into account when mounting the limit switch:

Place the limit switch under the black plastic cover of the motor gearbox.1. Place the limit switch in the position intended for the switch, above the clutch shaft.2. Ensure that the set screw (B) can push the switch spring (6) of the operating switches (S11 or S12). This means that 3. the set screw (B) must always be positioned between the switch spring (6) and the operating switches (S11 or S12).Tighten the cross-slotted screws by hand.4.

ADJUSTING THE LIMIT SWITCHThe following steps must be adhered to when adjusting the limit switch system:

Remove the black plastic protective cover of the motor gearbox. The limit switch is now visible.1. Check that the adjusting rings (3) on the knurled nut are loose (4), so that the knurled nuts (4) can easily be turned 2. by hand on the screwed spindle (1). Determine which operating switch (S11 or S12) should switch in the starting and limiting position. This can be 3. done by rotating the shaft of the electric motor. To do this place a hexagonal pin-face wrench in the shaft of the mo-tor. During rotation of the shaft the switch nuts (5) move linearly over the screwed spindle (1) in the direction of an operating switch (S11 or S12) The relevant operating switch (S11 or S12) limits the system in the selected direction of rotation (left or right) of the shaft of the electric motor.Note: • To rotate the shaft of the electric motor a drill with a hexagonal broach can also be used. To prevent damage to the hexagon in the shaft, the drill must not exceed a maximum of 250 revolutions per minute.Tip:• In order to avoid errors, mark which operating switch will limit the starting position and the limiting position.Bring the system to its extreme starting position by rotating the shaft of the electric motor.4. Turn the knurled nut (4) against the stop (2) in the direction of the operating switch (S11 or S12) which limits the 5. starting position, determined under point 3.With the aid of the wrench (A) rotate the adjusting ring (3) over the knurled nut (4) until the operating switch (S11 6. or S12) switches. A single soft click will be audible (see Fig. 2).With the wrench (A) fasten the adjusting ring (3) onto the knurled nut (4) by tightening the set screws (7 and 8), so 7. that the adjusting ring (3) cannot be rotated any further over the knurled nut (4).Bring the system to its extreme limit position by rotating the shaft of the electric motor.8. To adjust the limit position repeat steps 5 to 8.9. Note:• Replace the hexagonal wrench (A) in the limit switch. It is important that the short side is facing downwards.Store the bag containing the instructions for adjustment outside the limit switch system.10. Note: • Do not store any loose parts beneath the black plastic protective cover, as this can cause damage to the limit switch system.Replace the black plastic protective cover on the motor gearbox.11.

LIMIT SWITCH SYSTEMThe chain coupling set, with a duplex chain according to DIN chain no. 08B-2 with 12 links (including connecting link), connects the drive shaft of the GW motor gearbox with the system’s drive tube.

The set consists of a sprocket wheel with 12 teeth, a chain (p = 1/2”) with a link joint and a sprocket wheel joint. The sprocket wheel (1/2” x 5/16”) is suitable for the GW10. The sprocket wheel joint is suitable for a 1” drive tube.

Small differences in angle or alignment can be corrected with this chain coupling set.

POTENTIOMETER SETAPPLICATION

The potentiometer set is solely intended for use in GW motor gearboxes manufactured by De Gier B.V.•Thepotentiometerhasamaximumrangeof10revolutionsandisavailableinresistance0.5kΩ,1kΩ,2kΩ,5kΩ•and10kΩ.Operating temperature: +1°C to +60°C.•

The clutch shaft (1) of the limit switch system is driven by the driven shaft of the motor gearbox, with a geared-belt transmission. Geared-belt transmission reduces the number of rotations of the clutch shaft to 9 revolutions of the shaft of the potentiometer. Depending on the transmission ratio this geared-belt transmission consists of 2 or 3 gears (if the geared-belt transmission consists of 2 gears, the clamp (11) and gear (TW5) are not supplied). The enclosed calculation must be used to calculate the correct transmission.

MOUNTINGThe following steps must be adhered to when mounting the potentiometer set:

Remove the black plastic protective cover and the side plate of the motor gearbox. The limit switch system will be 1. visible.Slide the gear (6) from the plastic gear (TW2).2. Remove the locking rings and the gear (TW2) from the clutch shaft (1).3. Turn the M5 set screw (7) in the relevant tapped hole.4. Attach the bronze nut (8) and fasten this clamp against the casing of the motor gearbox.5. Mount the gear (TW5) onto the clamp (11).6. Slide the clamp (11) and gear (TW5) over the set screw (7) and fasten the ring (9) and M5 nut (10). Do not fasten 7. the clamp yet!Loosen the limit switch (5).8. Slide the connector block (3) over the synthetic clamp (4) and click them together under the limit switch (5).9. Attach the potentiometer (2) and tighten the limit switch (5). Take care to use the correct fastening method. 10. Mount the gear (TW3) onto the clutch shaft (1).11. Slide the gear (TW4) over the shaft of the potentiometer (2). Do not tighten this gear yet.12. Place the gear (TW5) on the clamp (11) between the gears (TW3 and TW4) and fasten the clamp. The gear (TW5) 13. must be pushed very lightly against the other gears. The gear transmission must be supple and light.Attach the locking rings and the gear (TW2) to the clutch shaft (1).14. Slide the gear (6) over the gear (TW2).15. Only mount the motor gearbox in one of the permitted positions.•Retain approx. 50 cm above the black hood for adjusting the limit switch system.•Retain approx. 30 cm behind the electric motor for access in the event of loss of power, in order to drive the motor •gearbox manually or with a drill (maximum revolutions 250 rpm). Replace the top black plug with a red vent plug. Always mount the vent plug in the highest position (see circle in •figurebelow).Whenchangingtheplugs,positionthemotorgearboxwiththeplugsfacingupwardstopreventoilspillage.Use a minimum of 3 steel bolts M10x20 (8.8 quality) for mounting.•When mounting in a dusty or humid environment the motor gearbox must be placed in a housing.•Operating temperature: -15°C to +60°C.•

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE

PERSONNEL

Inspectionandmaintenancemustonlybecarriedoutbythepersonnelspecifiedbelow:Technical personnel from the installation company.Persons who have received instruction from the installation company’s technical personnel.

Important: Switch off the power supply when carrying out any work.If falling objects pose any danger to personnel during the work, the work area must be closed off.

MOTOR GEARBOXES

MAINTENANCE INTERVALS

EVERY MONTHCheck for oil leaks on the outside of the motor gearbox and around the mounting area. In case of leakage, inform the installer.

HALF-YEARLYCheck for any increase in noise production. In case of an increase in noise, warn the installer. Lubricate the chain cou-plings with a lubricant with a viscosity ratio equal to that of an SAE oil.

ANNUALLYCheck if the motor gearbox mounting plate and bolts are securely fastened.Check if the couplings are still in good order and not worn or rusted.Check the limit switch system for rust.Check that the set screws on the limit switch system are tight.Check the electrical connection of the motor gearbox and the limit switch system.

MAINTENANCE INTERVALS

HALF-YEARLYCheck for any increase in noise production. In case of an increase in noise, inform the installer.Check the shape of the teeth of the gear rack and gears. In case of damage inform the installer.Lubricate the gear rack and gears with De Gier THG grease.Check the slide bearings. If any slide bearings are worn or broken inform the installer.Lubricate the slide bearings with De Gier THG grease.Lubricate the chain couplings with a lubricant with a viscosity ratio equal to that of an SAE oil.

ANNUALLYCheck that the fastening of the gearcase is tight.Check if the couplings are still in good order and not worn or rusted.
