25 years Corratec

Different from the start.

To me, it was never only about being different. My pas-sion for cycling gave me many opportunities to further develop and improve our products. What made us dif-ferent was our will to be better. Mainstream is easy. Being special is the challenge.

Over the past 25 years, there have been many Corra-tec products which influenced the market worldwide. Among other developments, we had the fastest tire on the market, the lightest pedal, the fastest fully and more.

Technologies like Low Profile Chainstay or our Bow top tubes - a Corratec signature design - can be found in many well-known brands today. The most recent cor-ratec technologies such as InsideLink, 10Hz, Fusion Tube or handlebar stabilizers are in-house innovations which offer great advantages and security.

Corratec technologies speak for themselves when you ride and feel them. Those who experienced it know what I mean. Words can convince, but feeling the dif-ference first hand and in action - that is what creates passion.

25 Jahre Corratec

Von Beginn an anders.

Es ging mir nie darum nur anders zu sein. Die Leidenschaft zum Fahrrad gab mir viele Möglichkeiten Produkte weiter zu entwickeln und besser zu machen.Anders wurden wir nur durch den absoluten Willen besser zu sein. Der Mainstream ist das Einfache. Das Besondere die Herausforderung.

Über die letzten 25 Jahre gab es von Corratec viele Produkte, die den kompletten Weltmarkt beeinflusst haben. Unter anderem hatten wir die wohl schnellsten Reifen des Marktes, das leichteste Pedal, das Fully mit dem schnellsten Vortrieb usw.

Technologien wie Low Profile Chainstay oder die gebogenen Oberrohre, die schon als Markenzeichen von Corratec bekannt sind, findet man heute bei vielen bekannten Marken. Die heutigen corratec Technologien wie z.B. InsideLink, 10Hz, Fusion Tube oder die Lenkerstabilisatoren sind Corratec Entwicklungen, die jede für sich größte Vorteile und Sicherheit bringen.

Gründung Konrad Irlbacher Senior gründet ein Fachgeschäft für Sportartikel in Rosenheim. Das Unternehmen stellt auch Ski her. Foundation Konrad Irlbacher Senior establishes a shop for sporting goods in Rosenheim, Germany. He specializes in in-house manufactured skis.

1983

Erster Radsportkatalog Räder der Marke Sannino werden in das Sortiment aufgenommen. First bike catalogue The business starts selling Sannino bikes.

1993

Bow Design corratec’s einzigartiger Bogen mit Wieder-erkennungswert gewinnt den Design Preis. Bow Design corratec’s unique Bow geometry is awarded with the Design Prize.

1994

Erster WM-Titel Bruno Risi holt den ersten WM-Titel für corratec auf der Bahn. First World Cup Title Bruno Risi wins first World Cup Title for cor-ratec on the race track.

1990

Corratec entsteht Räder werden nun selbst produziert und tragen den Namen corratec, in Anlehnung an „corrado“, italienisch für Konrad. Corratec is born The business now focuses on manufacturing bikes under the brand name corratec, which relates to „corrado“, Italian for Konrad.

1992

Neuer Firmensitz Das Unternehmen vergrößert sich. Firmen-zentrale, Produktion und Einzelhandel befin-den sich nun unter einem Dach in Raubling. New headquarters The company’s new headquarters, production site and flagship store are now located in Raubling.

Von der Bikeschmiede zum internationalen Produzenten Dabei fing alles klein an, als Konrad Irlbacher Senior, ein leidenschaftlicher Skirennläufer, 1970 in Rosenheim den IKO Sportfachhandel gründete. 1982 begann sein Sohn Konrad mit dem Verkauf von Rädern und Ersatzteilen, aus dem sich bald eine leistungsfähige Technikschmiede entwickeln sollte. Als Händler und Importeur bekannter Marken, vor allem aus Italien, sammelte das junge Unternehmen unter der Leitung von Konrad Irlbacher eine Menge Know-how. Unter dem Markennamen corratec wurden 1990 die ersten eigenen Bikes bis heute produziert.

From small bikeshop to international producer From humble beginnings, Konrad Irlbacher senior – a passionate ski racer – founded a sporting goods retail shop (IKO) in Rosenheim, Germany, in 1970. In 1982, his son Konrad started to sell bikes and parts and thus fostered an efficient company with expertise. As a dealer and importer of well-known brands, especially from Italy, the still young company accumulated technical know-how under the lead of Konrad Irlbacher In 1990, bicycles under the name corratec were produced for the very first time – until this day.

1996

Scheibenbremse fürs Rennrad corratec entwickelt das erste Rennrad mit Scheibenbremse. Disc brake for Roadbike corratec develops the first racing bike equip-ped with a disc brake.

2001

Air Tech Technology Der Dämpfer ist erstmals mittig befestigt, was zu direkter Kraftübertragung ohne Ener-gieverlust führt. Air Tech Technology The damper is fixed in the middle of its case, which guarantees direct power control wit-hout loss of energy.

2005

Handgefertigt corratec bietet seinen Kunden Rahmen nach Maß an – handgefertigt unter der Leitung von Mauro Sannino persönlich. Crafted by hand corratec offers custom fitted frames – hand-made by Mauro Sannino himself.

Technology is our trademark. For 25 years, we have delighted our customers, surprised competitors and been follo-wed by imitators. There are almost no other products with as many useful inventions as found on a corratec bike. You feel this in each pedal stroke.

EPS Normalerweise werden bei der Herstellung eines Carbonrahmens Ballons verwendet. Bei dieser Technik entstehen allerdings Falten im Inneren des Rahmens, oder die Oberfläche ist ungleichmäßig. Expandiertes Polystyriol (EPS) hingegen dehnt sich bei Hitze aus und drückt von Innen gegen das Carbon. Das Ergebnis ist ein leichterer, steiferer und gleichmäßigerer Rahmen.

Traditionally, inflatable blad-ders are used inside the carbon frame to force the material into the mould, but this technique leaves wrinkles or inconsistent thickness. To avoid this, we use expanded polystyrene. When heated, this material swells and exerts pressure on the inside of the carbon fibre. The result is a lighter, stiffer and more consis-tent final product.

Hollow Core Tech HCT (Hollow Core Technology) ist eine high-tech Aluminium Kon-struktionstechnologie. Anstatt schwere, überproportionierte Winkelstücke zu verwenden, nutzen wir komplexe Konstruk-tionen, welche sowohl Gewicht sparen als auch die allgemeine Stabilität erhöhen.

HCT (Hollow Core Technology) is pure high-tech. Instead of using heavy oversized gussets we looked for the perfect construc-tion. This enormously complex process saves a lot of weight while increasing stability.

Es vereint in sich die Vor-teile von 26 Zöllern (Gewicht, Tor-sionsteifigkeit und Agilität) mit den Vorteilen des 29“ Laufrades (erhöhte Laufruhe, Überrollver-halten, erhöhte Kurvenstabilität).

650b wheel Size is the new MTB standard. The 650b wheel is not a compromise between 26 and 29“. It combines the advantages of 26-inch models (weight, torsional stiffness and agility) with the advantages of the 29“ impeller (increased smoothness, rollover behavior, increased cornering stability).

Optimale Rahmenbedingungen The right frame size

Statt der Sitzrohrlänge werden Reach und Stack als entscheidender Parameter für die Größenwahl verwendet.

Das neue PRO SIZE SYSTEM 6 geht auf die individuellen Bedürfnisse eines jeden Fahrertyps ein und liefert sechs einfach zu bestimmende Rahmengrößen, die jedem Fahrer eine optimale Passform gewährleisten.

Der Fahrer kann nun wenn nötig eine etwas kleiner oder größere Rahmengröße wählen und mit Anpassen des Vorbaus und der Sattelposition die perfekte Passform erreichen. Der Abstand zwischen den verschiedenen Größen ist, im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Herstellern, immer konstant.
